You always take that over a good wing player, imo (unless it's like Lebron or something)
Like Oden over Durant, right.
Or Milicic...

it would be pretty ridiculous if we got a pick...would be magical...playoffs or bust next season

I'd flip the pick to Detroit for Drummond and their pick

Embiid
Why is everyone so in love with Embiid?
A high ceiling center with a potentially catastrophic injury who needs plenty of time to work on his body and develop his game? Sounds similar to Nerlens Noel.

there arent going to be players like Wiggins and Parker for a good while
This type of stuff is said and proven wrong every year.

1. Wiggins
2. Embiid
3. Parker
2. Embiid
3. Parker

This and the fit of the others is why I think it'd be Wiggins or trade. A top 3 pick should be enough to both unload Gordon and get something usable in return.

For a player as raw as Embiid -- still learning the nuances of basketball after growing up playing volleyball -- he's still pretty damn good and has a STRONG low post game right now to go along with a decent shooting touch.

Because he's really fricking good and would be a solid favorite for the top pick if not for the back injury.

I'd want Wiggins or Embiid
This This This
I think the Wiggins hype is a little overblown. But taking a big man with back or knee issues almost never works out. I actually believe Noel will have a healthier career than Embiid.
I'd have to go Wiggins to pair with AD and Jrue.

They have a bunch of trade ideas and my favorite (which I don't think Orlando would agree to unless Wiggins is there) is the pick and Gordon for Vucevic and Dipo.
I could live with that. It's hard to pass up on Wiggins though.

I assume you didn't watch the DX video I linked. He's got great tools, but he will need time to bulk up and adjust to playing guys that aren't 6'8" on a nightly basis, like almost all young bigs.

That's never been in dispute.
The point is that this board has largely been bashing Noel for the past year for flaws that Embiid has too. Why the disconnect? Simply just defensiveness because they shipped him out for Holiday? Because he's a better scorer than Noel (but a worse rebounder and shot blocker)?

I'm leaning more to the comparison of Hasheem Thabeet for Embiid. I just don't see him excelling at the next level.

Yeh, I watched it.
They showed him playing vs Baylor -- a team that plays 100% zone -- and Florida.
With Florida they show two plays of Embiid posting up Young and not getting pushed off the block, then making low post moves and finishing at the basket. Then they showed two plays where they believe he got pushed off the block -- which wasn't true, so I turned it off.

Per 40 minutes, Embiid is a better rebounder.

You're right. Looked at the numbers too quickly.
Regardless, I'm still a bit puzzled at the difference. For me, if a miracle happens I go with Wiggins every time. I'd be happy to "settle" for Embiid at 2 or 3, just like I was happy to "settle" for Noel at 6 before the trade

Wow. Do you think he will be a bust because of injury or do you just think he will not be that good?

I think he's too raw to be trying to develop in the NBA. He def needed another year at Kansas.

Both are tall, black and come from Africa. You don't see the comparison? Sheesh!
