Let's revisit this on July 15. I will show you 3-5 guys who have at least as much production as Hill (or more) who get less than half. I guarantee it
Can't wait to see how you arbitrarily define "production" to spin this one
How about you reserve judgement until after these guys play a season with their new teams?

let's just create some ranges of various stats to set it in stone

Here we go
Would anybody argue that Ian Clark has similar production to Hill? Forget upside, position, etc.
Can we all agree that those two guys have had similar NBA production?

so wait you want to create ranges of stats/variables for hill and clark now?

One other thing I want to know, and please try to answer honestly and as objectively as possible (not trying to win your argument):
If Solomon Hill shoots 6-19 from three in that series instead of 11-19 and literally everything else was the same, what kind of contract do you think he would get?

Mike, what do you know in terms of the teams thinking with Hill? Hear a lot about him as a small ball 4, does the team plan on using him as that any? I know Dell has liked him for a while, what does he like?

They see him as a 3 who can play 4. Most of the smart guys who people keep pointing to in order to justify the signing say over and over again that they like the signing if Hill mostly plays 4. He won't. The plan is for him to start at 3. Will likely play 70-90 percent of his minutes there

Supposedly there were 2 other teams very interested and willing to go into double figures

this begs the question. why are you bringing up clark as a comparison?
Posted on 7/2/16 at 1:04 pm to SlowFlowPro
Did I compare them as players or did I simply ask if we can use that as a bar for production comparison?
Do I need to teach people basketball AND how to read? That's too much for me tbh

Well a proper comparison for as to whether Hill lives up to his contract or is an average or above average SF would be to another 3/4. We needed a 3 who can play 4, not a 2 or 2 who can play 3. So you should really pick another comparable player that we could have signed for that same role.

well it's kind of silly to compare a guy who is 6-3 and more of a 1/2 than a 3/4 (more rare) option

do i need to teach you valid comparisons AND supply and demand?

That was always the case no matter who the Pels brought in for this season.

Lakers offered him 4 yrs 50 mil but Gentry promised Hill a starting job.

Regarding catch and shoot:
Hill shot 39% this year
Compare this to DC(32.4%) and Gee(26%)

David Fisher? @DavidFisherTBW
Add it altogether and Solomon Hill shot 36.5% (96/263) on catch and shoot threes in the last two seasons plus playoffs

And those two guys might make 5-6 mil combined this year
If the argument is: Is Hill better than what we had? The answer is maybe, depending on how QPon comes back
But if the question is: Was he the best value you could have gotten for that 12 mil? My educated guess is no

name names
who are the other players that are gettable that they could have signed for 12MM total?
don't get me wrong I'm as confused by this guy as anyone but I'm interested in hearing your opinion on who the alternatives were

Hill is based on potential, and he plays a different role than QPon. He's a 3/4 switch wing, small ball 4. We simply don't have that and needed it desperately. QPon is a 2/3 guy. He also has high high defensive potential and has improved his shot every year.
It was a gamble based on need and potential.
