Zion is the best player on the team as soon as he suits back up. It’s okay to remember that we are basically a .500 team but we get to add our best player back into the mix and our third best player has only played with us since the trade deadline. This is a good thing!

And we can only hope Zion makes the same strides BI has made on defense at some point. Because if those two are no longer defensive liabilities that we have to game plan around, then frickin look out.

Nowhere does anyone say he “isn’t close”. It’s mentioned that progress is being made but with recognition that with 2.5 weeks left in the season it’s going to be difficult for him to progress through the practice ramp up to get back on the court. It’s awesome that he can dunk in an empty gym, but he needs to get through 5-on-5 before he’s ready to come back into what is going to be a meat grinder end to the season.

As it’s been said, he thought he was a okay in December and then had yet another set back. I wouldn’t take his word on it.

Oh bull frickin shite

This Shams update was a leak from the team and you know it.. and when everyone started shitting on Zion after the update, he put out this video. That's why the gym is empty and nobody from the team is to be seen

But hey.. 10 games left. Why ruin the synergy we have with Tyrone Wallace

You guys don't seem to be understanding what's happening here...

The team is saying he's shut down and hopefully will be ready for next season.. thats why they won't clear him to do shite. He's not practicing because management won't let him, not necessarily because he's physically incapable. They're punting until next year

Zion, on the other hand, thinks he's further along and just put out a video that clears himself to do between the legs - full bearing - dunks..

This is going to come to a head and if he doesn't see minutes this year, it's not going to end well

I think this is a bad sign for the relationship too, but in the end the only thing that has ever mattered is building a winner.

BI/CJ/JV/Herb + Willie, Zion won't find a better situation to go to if he cares about being All NBA, MVP, etc. Because you only get consideration for those awards on winning teams.

Jerry Krause and Jordan didn't really like each other and they made it work.

I understand exactly what's happening. Zion probably just got done working out before the video.

He had a catapault thing on. He was just showing off after his shooting drills.

You and others are just adding your spin to it. There are 11 games left. It's not like they said he isn't going to progress.

I think this is way overblown.

If you say so.. I don't think it's a coincidence he (a) drops this video the day after the team says he's done for the year and (b) leaks it to a reporter before releasing it (a reporter he made sure would say "zion showing he's ready to play")

Dude it's a clear marketing clip.

If Zion wanted to show me he's ready give me a 15 min workout video lol.

Hes not trying to show you he's ready for 42 minutes in a playoff game ... he's showing you that he's further along than than Shams (via the team) would have you believe 2 days ago

He's pushing back against the narrative that he's not even close to ready to contribute this year. and if management doubles down now.......

LOL.

You can throw Zion into any team in the NBA. The dude averaged 27 on 60% playing with Bledsoe and Adams.

Bro I didn’t say he wouldn’t do fine individually. But the team rhythm could suffer for it

There is no way you have eyes and believe this

That floor is clearly moving and it isn’t just a lighting effect

ETA: You can see if you pause it after his foot comes up that the court takes time to return to form, that motion would not happen if it was a lighting effect because it would only be depressed when his shoe was directly on it if it was a lighting effect. I get you’ve been there, but maybe they added something idk. But that is not just a lighting effect

he’s clearly improving but he’s dunking and landing on what looks like a padded court. There’s so much more to being nba ready than that. Jumping once and doing a between the legs dunk doesn’t mean he’s ready to play

No, that's not what's happening. What's happening is that everyone on this board and plenty of people off of it have called David Griffin a snake oil salesman for giving false timelines of Zion's return. It happened in year one and it happened again this year.

If the team said that "we still hope that Zion can play this season" and he isn't ready in time, all of you would scream about Griff and the team yet again, for lying to you to sell tickets.

The Shams leak is about setting expectations. "We don't expect Zion to return" does not mean the same thing as "We're holding Zion out."

I don't see any rift right now at all between the team and Zion. The team is setting the proper expectation, and Zion is saying that he's working hard to try to play.

It's actually great messaging, for once, from both Zion and the team.
