Sure. That isn’t the argument I was trying to make.

It was strictly in response to Year 1. That’s it.

Nobody believes that Scoot is gonna suck arse. NO ONE.

You're missing the point and assuming because his comp is WEstbrook that he'll be that good. Point is, guys don't hit their comps all the time, whether they're still good or not.

Gotcha, either way I don’t think year 1 will be much worse than what we did this year.

Next year is make or break for this core imo with our cap situation. Griff probably sees a golden opportunity to get a guy that’s a first overall talent in scoot and will just rip the bandaid off now.

Wait, you think that Zion team without BI could have actually beaten Denver in a playoff series?

Yes, Zion showed everyone he’s a man among boys and can do whatever he wants in the 4th quarter of the Wolves game when he put the team on his back. There’s nobody on the Nuggets that can contain him when he gets that in his head (no not even Gordon).

This team is far superior with Zion on the floor than Ingram on the floor.

I don't think there's anything wrong with people saying Ingram is the best talent in a trade like this and it's not even close. It's true.

Scoot will be a good player. I'm confident in that. But it's going to take to time.

But that doesn't mean that we won't be a bitter team when you add the sum of all the parts that comes with a trade like that.

First you get Trey in the starting line up which maximizes Zion's spacing.

Then you have shooters and rim protection coming back. That means depth and balance.

And finally that gives you a path to keep all your up and coming players.

Could it blow up on our faces? Absolutely. But it's a gamble I can reason with.

I do think this confirms 2 things

1) Pels are actually interested in trading into the top 3, it’s not just our bloggers and message board users

2) Charlotte and/or Portland aren’t happy with their trade offers and are using a team like the Pels with a lot of assets as leverage

But why?

Why would we give up BI for a rookie that may be good 3-5 yrs from now?

The quicker yall come to terms with this the better

Trading a guy who reupped on a team friendly deal after being traded here, headed to Team USA, is the gym rat of the Star players and played like an MVP at the end of last year at age 25 is not something to come to terms with when no one coming back is at his level currently and Scoot can’t shoot.

There should be a mourning process as this will not make this team better and only shortens the time the other star players are here.

And it would mean the Pels are taking the cheap way out.

I, and most, think Scoot is going to be better than BI. And I love BI. But even more than that, we could have Scoot under team control for 9 years. BI’s contract has only two years left, with a possible uncomfortable situation in one. It’s the right move. A difficult one, but the right one if available.

That’s great, and I agree. But he never fricking plays.

At SOME POINT, that has to mean something.

But you can't make decisions like that IMO.

Honestly, if you do factor that in, then trading BI for Scoot is more of a no brainer.

That’s why you trade Ingram and tell Zion this is HIS team. Since he’s been here they’ve tried to tell everyone this is Ingram’s team and Zion has just half assed it, but make it well known that he is the man here and that will be enough motivation for him to get right.

Guys like Zion that can be the best in the league don’t want to be referred to as a #2.

Because you already know what Ingram’s ceiling is and it’s as the second or third player on a championship team. He will not be the leader of a successful team, and the problem we have is that we’ve pumped him up as our leader for the past 4 years, so the only way to truly turn over the reigns to Zion is to trade Ingram.

There’s no better trade you can get right now besides Scoot and another good young player.

It should be Zion. Send him home to the Hornets. We get a package including #2.

Not sure why you think Zion gives a shite if this is “his team” or not.

And Ingram would at best be the 4th.

Difference between the two is Zion actually has the potential to be the best player in that series, Ingram can’t even come close to that, his ceiling would be 3rd behind Jokic and Z.

If we get #2 and Draft Scoot over Miller, I think we're making a mistake

ETA: Brandon Miller was the SEC ROY, POY, Tournament MVP, 1st team all-SEC. Shot 38.4% from deep on 7.5 attempts per game, 18.8/8.2, a steal and a block a game and shot 86% from the line. He's also 6'9" compared to 6'4"

Scoot Henderson was in the G-League Next up game. Shot 27.5% from deep on 2.7 attempts, 6.2 assists, 76.4% from the line. 16.5ppg, 5.4rpg

Downvote if you like, I just don't see the proof in the pudding.

Because if we don’t get Zion right we are never going to be anything more than a play-in team as stated. We have to do everything possible to get his mind and body right, and you start with the mind by making him the undisputed leader.
