Would be kind of nuts if Ingram is on the trade block... But it does allow them to keep everyone and commit to Trey as a starter. It'll be interesting to see what's on the table.

Its more a soft reset and its nothing against BI but we know what kinda ceiling he has with this team now.

Unless they have completely given up on Zion, which would be stupid, then I don't see how this works.
Scoot is really good, but if we part with BI to get him, we'd be taking an immediate step back as a franchise because it's going to take Scoot a season or two to really become a force, and we don't really have that kind of time for a soft-reboot with Zion.

Trade option?

I'd rather trade Zion than BI to be honest

Which means we have 3 years to prove that this is a viable place to stay.
If we go into year 4 and are still trying to figure things out, you'll start seeing the leaks a la AD.

Tell me how would we be taking a step back?
Zion played and had this team as the #1 seed in the west until he got injured, Ingram came back and couldn’t even get us out of the play in game. We can’t take more of a step back than that.
The proper way to build this team moving forward is to build around Zion and get someone that can take alot of the load off him, and also step in and start in case of injury or to give him rest days (like Collins).

Well we were kinda the #1 seed when Ingram was out. So I'm not so sure how much Ingram sets us back. We were a better defensive squad with Herb and Trey in the line up as well.
If we keep 14 and take lively, Scoot at 3, and some rotation players coming back, it don't think we would be worse off.

Depending on the deal 2024-2025 season we will have a new Max slot at the trade deadline or offseason.
Doing this allows us to create a better team long term.

Maybe they just have this much confidence in Trey?

I don’t think anything materializes IMO

Yeah any time report's like this gets out a trade never goes down. It's teams leaking stuff trying to get better offers, look at the Adams and Val trade a few years ago it just happened no lead up when teams are serious about getting something done they keep quiet.

Agreed. Trades usually just happen. If it’s reported 10 days before the draft it’s Hornets advertising that their pick is for sale.
