Pels should get JaMarcus Russell to come talk to him and explain where his career is headed if he doesn't change his lifestyle drastically.

Jamarcus made roughly $40M in his short stint in the NFL.
Still a lot of money.

Zion will have probably made close to $400M after this contract is up, regardless if he's played much or not.

I'm done with him. I'd prefer he be traded at this point. I know he has the potential to make us a title contender when healthy, but i don't really care anymore. There are too many things about all of this that i just don't like. Obviously the fact that he can't stay healthy would be #1. then he can't stop being fat while out with injury. his defense sucks. His stepdad and the rest of the people around him are idiots. and you simply never hear anything from him. How can you have a franchise player who doesn't play and refuses to talk about why he doesn't play, and it's not like it just happened once, or twice.

I mean, I can’t see how you don’t put blame on BOTH Zion and the organization. I don’t care how bad a shape he’s in. He can def come off the bench for 20 minutes. The organization just refuses to let him because they’re absolutely terrified he will re-injure it again despite it being mostly healed. How true that is…we will never know. After his setback, this entire organization punted this season. Their trade deadline moves should have told us that, but idiot people like myself wanted to believe the opposite.

At the same time, I get hamstring injuries are tricky and can occur to anyone, but HOW the frick can you be THIS out of shape to where youre not even close? Look, I get it. You’re not exactly able to get much conditioning in after missing months. But even so, it’s just impossible for me to believe a freak of nature like Z would not even be close at this point. If that’s true, Z needs to take a long hard look in the mirror and re-evaluate whether or not he needs to drop more weight and what he needs to do to be successful health wise.

He does NOT give a shite. Lazy fat slob 22 year old that played 29/games a year for 4 years and was paid over $100 Million in endorsements, shoe deals and salary.

So one person makes up crap that he is fat (which is false) and everyone jumps in to pile on. Typical.

I don’t think he’s fat

BUT there’s a serious issue with his health and training regiment and how HE HIMSELF is handling it as well as the organization. If he’s THIS out of shape to where he can’t even go out there for 20 minutes a night, that’s a HUGE problem either with our training staff or with Z himself. Either way, something has to change or this fricker won’t even have a chance to be traded and turn his career around at a different organization. He will be out of the league.

It’s either that or the organization doesn’t want him out there if it’s only 20 minutes, which is another can of worms entirely. He’s not going to get into basketball shape until he fricking plays LIVE basketball.

There's plenty of ways to stay in shape while nursing a hamstring. Plenty of players get hamstrings, but only zion comes back fat. If he cared enough he would do what it takes to stay in shape but he doesnt care enough to do that.

This and only this.

Anyone who disagrees with this very simple premise is cool with enabling this dude. You’ve been paid 100s of millions of dollars to stay in shape and play basketball well. If you can’t play basketball well then you DAMN sure better be doubling down on nutrition and doing upper body bike, stationary bike long enough to get a good calorie burn in addition to your other treatment.

This isn’t fricking rocket science yet this dude is coddled like a 300 lb baby every time he gets injured.

Shouldn't have given him the 2nd contract then. Maybe Griff is the bust

If we didn’t give him a second contract we would have seen the biggest melt imaginable here and the franchise would have been the laughing stock.

Currently it’s looking like a no win situation… let him walk, lose..sign max, lose

Written off this year. Next year is the acid test. If he can’t stay healthy next season and we don’t make a push with him, bi, cj and trey… that will be it for me.

There gave been effective overweight players - Shaq and Barkley to name two - but it's tricky and you are flirting with disaster when you are obese.

This is really disappointing to see from such a young, rising star. Dude is his own worst enemy at this point.

If he is that FAR off with conditioning I guarantee you a big part of that is his current weight. Pelicans probably have a number they want him to be at or under and he isn’t there

How is this coddling? This seems like the Pels are hurting their chances this season to stand their ground and break Zion of the behaviors long term that let him get so out of shape when injured.

There's no wrong answers. At this point, you can be done with him now, and I can't blame or disagree.

I'd just like to give him and this group 1 more shot before I chalk it up to a lost cause.

Zion still crying on Weatherspoon's shoulder?
Is he going to retire due to the pressure destroying his mental health like Simone Biles?
Scam over $150 million as a 22 year old then poof. Would totally go with today's world of professional sports.

While i know the team is overly cautious, it sounds very much like they think he should be ready to go, but he isn't, and i think Zion and the idiots around him are more concerned with how his brand is affected above all else. For some dumb reason they think it's better to just stay quiet and not say anything as opposed to playing and not looking in shape again.

Any competitor would have done whatever was needed to get back and help his team. If that meant playing 20mpg off the bench in the playoffs, then they'd do it.

Conditioning being the reason is all signs of a over protective training staff.

Stars comes back all the time from month longer injuries and play their way back into shape. No reason our staff to be this cautious if he isn't injured anymore

If it wasn't weight related, They would have allowed him to play off the bench and build up his conditioning like most players when they come back from extended absences. They probably holding him out because he didn't hold up his end of the deal and exceeded the weight limit he agreed to.

You have to question whether Zion, or for that matter, the Pels want him here. Throw out last year and its still the second time, the bubble being the first, that he’s ghosted the team with the team providing lame, vague reasons.
