Content of tweet for those at work.

The Pelicans have:

- No bad contracts
- Long term flexibility
- Zion Williamson
- A bevy of future picks
- Up and coming star in Ingram
- Promising young players under rookie scale contracts
- Ability to generate even more assets if they move vets

This is the truth, but it doesn't hang a championship banner in the SKS in the next year or two so it wont be received well here.

Yep. But this place will continue to melt despite it all. I have no problem with people airing frustrations (this is a fan message board after all) with this shitty season. But let's keep perspective on it all.

You’re exaggerating. Get rid of the Gentry stench and I guarantee you, the fanbase will be much more patient with the team.

The pessimistic temper tantrum nature of a lot of the posts on this board lately is laughable.

Are we a bad team currently? Yes.
Is it partly because of coaching? Yes.
Is it partly because of roster construction? Yes.

None of these things are permanent issues.

No, we aren’t going to fire Gentry in the middle of the season. Why? Because no coach worth a damn wants to take over a team in the middle of the season. All of the names being thrown out on this board as potential coaches would want time to install their system correctly, implement their ideal staff and scheme changes, recommend personnel changes, etc. Clearly Gentry won’t be the coach after this season, and firing him now does nothing that waiting until the seasons end would fix.

I’ve also seen some questionable comments about cap space. This team has ZERO long term contracts that would be difficult to move. Yes we used cap space on Favors and Reddick... on SHORT term deals that are easily tradeable.

Yep. Super weird. We're in the best spot cap wise we've ever been in franchise history yet I've seen multiple posts today saying we're about to be in cap trouble or something like that.

That's the kind of shite I'm talking about.

Complain about shot selection. Complain about defensive effort. Complain about Gentry's rotation. I'm right there with you.

But don't give me idiotic crap like "we're fricked long term" or tell me "at least we made the playoffs in the Shinn years!". Christ people.

Yes, that’s true but we should not be this bad. We are missing a half ton of interior presence in Zion and Hayes and only have a bad defender and an underweight rookie to stand up in the middle. Should have kept Cheik or Wood at least.

We get murdered in the paint every game, and despite the analytics and more three balls, this is where the game is still won or lost. If we don’t have the weight we really should just go zone with a chaser out top and put body on a body everywhere else.

Well, the body on body is what they are trying to do, but nobody is talking out there

That is all true but it doesn't make the product watchable or make me feel better about the money I spend on it. If we were horrible playing Jax and nickeil big minutes at least I could have something to look forward to.

That won’t happen until they are eliminated from the playoffs. The way things are going, you might get your wish by the all star break.

Best person covering the Pels.

I'm cool with a Sixers type process, but their GM didn't sell them a false narrative to try to sell a franchise record number of season tickets. Using an analogy, Griffin told us we were getting an entry level Mercedes this year and would be driving a Lambo in a few years, but the product on the court this season is actually a 10 year old Corolla with busted headlights.

Solid analogy.

But I think it's most important, and to the point of the OP/Shamit, that the fact that we have the 10 year old Corolla instead of entry level Mercedes right now doesn't really hinder our ability or make us any less likely to get the Lambo in a few years.

I am fine with all moves that were made and I am excited for the future...as long as they get rid of gentry. This roster is not a 6-19 roster. I don't expect them to make the playoffs with this squad but you cannot tell me this roster is bottom 3 in the league. It is COACHING

You're completely missing the point. Nobody thinks firing Gentry right now will have a HOF coach on the bench next week. That's not the point. We've seen enough, though. He is not a good coach. He's not going to suddenly turn into a good coach. Time to move on. If you dump his sorry arse now, that gives you an opportunity to slap the interim tag on Finch and see how he does with an NBA, albeit not great, roster. It basically allows you to give a young up-and-comer an on-the-job evaluation. You lose that if you wait until the offseason to dump everyone's friendly uncle.

Exactly. This team doesn't need to name the coach of the future this season, but they do need a damn change. This team looks unprepared, disinterested, and defeated.

Fans are disappointed this team sucks this year. It got hyped to the point that we thought this team would compete for the playoffs. It clearly went way too far
