The Steelers are top 3 year in and year out of NFL merchandise sold. They have appeal across the US.
Seattle has regional appeal.

Again, color scheme and logo are more important. If we nail that, then people won't care that we are the Pelicans, they will buy the merchandise, just like the Steelers

overall this whole rebrand thing has been incredibly disappointing if these names are true...I have always liked our state names Saints, Jazz are incredibly unique names that just clicked with the city. Our only state name thats generic is Tigers and the history behind that one makes it very endearing and makes you proud that its the state moniker...I understand the Pelican is easily identifiable with our state...that doesn't make it a good name. Atlanta didn't name their NBA team Peaches...its an awful name and if your going to spend millions on a rebrand at least make the city want it.

I think you are missing the point. The Steelers are one of the most storied franchises in sports history. Of course they'll sell merchandising. The issue is whether it hurts the Pirates merchandising. I'd bet it does some, but the Pirates are a classic logo and have a long history. The Pelicans will have none of that and are going to have trouble competing with Saints sales. If they choose black and gold, the Saints will keep selling, but people who already have black and gold Saints gear they can wear to games will be less likely to buy Hornets gear. It's a matter of market saturation. How much of their wardrobe are people going to dedicate to black and gold>

I am okay with pelicans but the bounce is my favorite. I don't mind Krewe either.
