Honestly, I think they are probably "leaking" names to gage public perception of them. They are savvy people and know that a bad rebrand could cost the franchise millions in merchandising revenue.

just keep Hornets... why change?

Pelicans too narrowly focused, not ferocius enough

We are just fricking the rebrand all up if thats the case was hoping we'd incorporate some form of black and gold

I am definitely opposed to this. There's no reason to try to associate the Hornets with the Saints. The Hornets should be unique instead of relying on the popularity of the Saints.

Its not so much the Saints as the black and gold color scheme would look really badass on a basketball team and on the court.

A lot of national writers were saying this as well and I remember they had a sit down interview with gayle benson where she was for black gold and wine red.

Blue and Grey can be good if done right but such soft colors with the name Pelican is kinda lame

Yeah I definitely think black and gold would look great on a basketball uniform, it's just that everyone will associate it with the Saints over whatever our team name will be.

It's ok

Picking the right colors would be important

I wish the name could be the New Orleans Blues, just my personal opinion

Brass - would work, and definitely could go with a black and gold color scheme like the Saints.

Knights - would work as well in black and gold.

Knights could fit into that black, gold, and red that Gayle was talking about. I just think of Silver or Grey and red when I think of knights.

The possible blue and gray scheme has grown on me... But Pelicans is still a silly name imo I looked over at realgm seems most thought it was a joke but few were okay with it.

there was also a cool scheme that someone posted a while back that looked decent

Black and Gold would be really dumb from a business standpoint. It was talked about a while back, but it wpuld absolutely hurt merchandising. Half of the people in the crowd would be wearing a Brees, Colston, or Sproles jersey.

Not being a smart arse, but a serious question: But do you (or anyone) know how the Pittsburgh and Seattle teams do with merchandising? I suppose I could look it up, but just wondering if anyone who lives/have lived in those cities know off the top of their head.

I think the black/gold would look good on basketball uniforms, but I do like the idea of the Hornets having their own identity. It's difficult coming up with a color scheme that isn't too off the wall, and hasn't been used already. I think the blue/silver idea is interesting. Maybe a darker blue to differentiate from the Magic's colors.

No clue. But remember that the Seahawks have introduced neon green, which stands out.

Let's be honest here. This is the internet, and its TD, so basically shitting on everything is in the very nature of people on here.

There is virtually no name that would satisfy even 70% of us. Even a name like the Brass would probably get shite on.

I don't love the Pelicans but I also don't really care that much at this point.

Well....let's just think about some NBA names that you might be used to but maybe never considered how shitty they really are:

Wizards
Suns
Thunder
Heat (seriously, WTF)
Raptors
Grizzlies
Timberwolves
Bobcats

I mean, is Pelicans really not in the same realm as these team names? I think...of the things we have seen proposed...it is by far the one that actually fits with the NBA culture actually

Angels :barf:
Spirit :doublebarf:
Krewe?
Bounce?
