This thread is funny. Pelicans fans would kill to make the playoffs, let alone make the second round. We'll see if they manage to finish above last place in the division.

No, no you can't.

James Harden is a get-to-the-bucket guy first and foremost. He can't get there with two centers clogging the paint.

You absolutely can. You would think two centers have never played together before in the history of the NBA.

I think more credit goes to the owner for sticking it out. Most teams would have fired Morey at least a year before he was able to start pulling his plan together.

I think Morey was just starting to get on the hot seat after Orlando decided to trade Howard to the Lakers and not the Rockets. At that point it looked like the Rockets were going to be really bad. There was also this belief that Morey couldn't get a "star". At the end of the day, he did something that a lot of people didn't think was possible. He turned the Rockets into a title contender without having to go completely in the tank.

quote:

Morey is not the best GM in the league, he's not even the best in his own state. OKC had no trade leverage whoever got harden got $.30 to the dollar. Don't give morey too much credit.

He's one of the best GMs in the league. Saying Bufford is a better GM is no insult. And OKC had tons of leverage. Harden was still on his rookie contract last year. Then he was just a restricted free agent. OKC pulled the trigger on a bad deal. Morey deserves a ton of credit for assembling the pieces that OKC wanted.

This is also the guy that gave a $25M contract to Jeremy Lin.

The Pelicans just traded for a PG who makes more than Lin, despite having very similar advanced stats (offense and defense). Fire Dell Demps.

38% field goals as a center. Don't want that shite anywhere near the Pels.

That's as absurd as using advanced stats to claim Holiday and Vasquez are on similar levels. It was obvious when Lin was signed that he was a fringe starter type and the only justification for the money they threw at him was the Asian Marketing angle. Linsanity was as absurd as people trying to equate Vasquez' stellar assist totals with top PG play. We know all too well what empty numbers look like.

Houston would dominate the 1960s NBA!

He makes a lot of really shitty decisions for one of the best GMs in the league.

If only the game were scored in advanced stats.

The Lakers won back to back championships not that long ago with Gasol and Bynum. The Rockets were just fine last year with Greg Smith and Asik on the floor at the same time. They can play Asik and Howard together for small stretches at a time.

Every GM has made shitty decisions. I'm interested to see what you think are Morey's worst decisions. I'm also interested to see how that compares to trading away Chris Paul for essentially nothing. Twice.

Jrue was so good he led the 76ers to a 34-48 record.
