Ryno is a better fit with the guys we have right now than Asik.

If there's anyone on our roster that can handle trade talks about him its Anderson, but I see what you're saying.

I don't think this trade is off the table by any means though

Do you really think it makes sense though?

If Ryno left I'd not post for days while in mourning

@usnfish 11m
Stein's tweet leads me to believe the Anderson-Asik was a Josh Smith play to increase value. Maybe Demps likes Anderson/Davis possibilities

I do

Big centers are the key to winning now. Look at the only teams that can compete with the Heat: Pacers, Spurs, Grizzlies, etc.

He's white

j/k He just seems to have his head on straight and isn't the type of guy to get his feelings hurt over our front office doing business

Pelicans don't have to 'win now.' I know there's a sentiment amongst some fans that Rome has to be built in a day but Asik won't be the only option to address the center position for this team's long term goals.

I would too, but as others have said, good shooters are easier to find than good defensive centers that average a double-double. They come much cheaper too

It makes sense to me, but obviously not to them or they wouldn't have called it off. Pels would look a lot like the Grizzlies if they made that deal. If not, the irony is that they'll look a lot like the Rockets (minus Asik).

That makes sense...I just wonder who is out there...Kyle Korver loves money...he just went back to the hawks for it.

You can find efficient 3 point shooters....the problem is that's literally all they do.

True, but Asik is much more rare than you think. That's why you can afford giving up a good shooter for it, even if it means we go the next season or two without a shooter like Ryno. It would take us much longer to find an Asik type center than a Ryno type shooter

Asik is rare. No one wants to take the time to truly develop a center which is why there are so few that are any good. Asik is developed now and ready to go.

After the past couple of years, I would prefer to start winning a little bit. Signing a legit center is only going to help AD develop that much faster as well. Rome wasn't built in a day, but this is the modern day of NBA free agency-not city planning in the ancient world.
