Ringer podcast on Zion

The Real Ones ringer podcast talked about Zion on today's episode and both hosts said they are hearing very concerning things coming out of NOLA about Zion's work ethic and maturity. They said he simply hasn't been doing the things he needs to do to keep his body healthy. They said the pelicans have invested so much into keeping him healthy but its a 2 way street and Zion isnt holding up his end. This is very disappointing if true.

It was weird.
The way I took it, they didn't imply they heard anything recently, it felt like a weird, out of place harsh rant on stuff we all heard a year ago.
Neither Logan or Raja are gonna be breaking news like that. It's very unlikely they're the only 2 that heard that, and no one else in NBA media has heard it to report it.
But Yea, I really didn't get the feeling either was saying they heard any new info recently relating to this.

Obviously something is not right. He clearly needs to become more invested in taking care of his body or completely change his off-season training regimen. I’d have to think the organization has sat down with him and told major changes will take place this summer.

Raja knows aaron nelson well from their time together in PHX, he's talked about him a bunch on the pod before. I wouldn't be surprised if that was his source on the pels

I think it was his rookie year, we tried to hire zion a private chef and he turned it down because his mom was his chef. But i assume they are talking about the chef he now has and a bunch of medical stuff we try with him idk

Seems like an odd accusation to make after he literally did what he had to do to come into this season much slimmer and in shape. I doubt he suddenly pulled a 180 on that after the season started.

Neither made any mention that they specifically heard anything directly or anything new.
Logan said 3 or 4 times "they get the whispers" of him not doing what he needs to, etc.
Then Raja said "there are too many reports about him being a bad professional"
So yea, neither stated they heard anything directly, if they did they would have said they did. That's why it was such a weird thing, as no one has heard any of those whispers the entire season, they didn't hear anything new, but just had a harsh rant on old shite.
Nothing to see here imo.

Aaron Nelson gots to go. Not saying Zion isn’t immature but Pels need to shake this training staff up big time.

Well this was the team’s narrative at one time for sure. But more that Zion wouldn’t take their advice on diet and training and basically shut them out of the conversation in favor of his advisers, principally his folks. This supposedly reached its height when he went out to Portland and went silent for weeks, forcing Trajan to fly out there to find out what the hell was going on.
Obviously that’s all old news but I’m still not sure how much Zion loops the team in on this stuff, but I haven’t heard anything new about it in a while.

Or Nike is…they pay him a lot of money and if he wants a second big shoe deal, he’ll listen to the people who make his shoes.

He pulled his hamstring. He didn’t eat his way out of the season, or was gassed every game. What? He didn’t stretch appropriately? He hasn’t done the rehab?
I’ve been critical of Zion when he’s deserved it or should I say when the organization deserved it because they weren’t honest with us. This is not one of those situations.

The team should be frustrated that they sent Zion out there to carry the team on a nightly basis (and getting beat to shite every game in the process) while BI had to search for inner peace in street clothes

Remember the SLAM interview where Zion made fun of CJs pregame stretching routine …

I mean I get it, but its not like he walked out of the limo on to court and pulled it on first possession
He was playing his arse off as usual.. outhustling and running past our whole team, when he pulled up lame
He needs to find the "Lebron of hamstring doctors" so he can load up on roids and who knows what else

Logan and Raja are terrible. Have no idea about Zion, but needed to say that is the single biggest podcast I skip over every time.

this. how can lebron have like a 3 month injury but go to some doctor in germany and come back in 3 weeks? why can't zion do that?

I don’t understand why everyone is blaming the training staff for Zion. He doesn’t maintain his body to last the full season. I don’t get why people continue to deny what multiple people are saying that has access to conversations that we as fans don’t have access to. It’s pretty obvious since he’s barely played his whole career especially during crunch time. He’s never made it to the end of the season when we’re in playoff contention. It’s BI, CJ, and the rest of the team that’s been holding it down while he’s on the bench.

Until Zion gets his playing weight around 250, he'll never ever stay healthy.

That wasn’t my point .
Stretching, mobility work ,routine, etc is key to prevention. He’s more concerned about how he looks or is perceived. The way he ragged cj in that interview was very telling considering it came out the mouth of a guy who has missed so many games to start his careeer.
