This is the league that put BLM on the court, think any coach would come out in support of Trump? That would be career suicide.

But the ratings tanked enough to where they changed their tune…..

I've been wondering about this.. If Bud gets fired, everyone on this board will of course be hoping to land him....

but do the players view him as a bad coach? i.e., "he had Giannis, Jrue, Middleton, and still couldn't get over the hump. How will he do any better here?"

Maybe I'm an idiot, but I don't think they are hiring an old guy this go around. They are going to hire someone younger, who played the game, and is more relatable.

100% agree. I don't think they will even be in the running for Calisle.

I imagine it will be someone like Lee, Billups, etc.

I also concur, I wouldn't even want pop at this point. This team is immature, lazy, and entitled. While also being ungodly talented.

We need a young explayer coach that can light a fire under guys. You don't need the Pops and Carlisle's of the world unless you have pros on your team, and we dont. We need someone that can teach these kids to be pros, and if his x's and o's aren't there in 2 yrs and we have pros, then maybe you change gears.

TBF Bud is the high floor vet coach that Griff tried to convince himself and everyone that Stan could be.

Bud’s problem is the same one Doc has ran into later in his career, same Thibs had in Chicago, they aren’t master tacticians or chess players in the playoffs.

They will get you to 50+ wins but will get out coached if they don’t have a pretty solid talent advantage in the post season.

Then again I also just think part of if it is, let’s be honest, Giannis. He can’t hit clutch free throw and he still can’t reliably hit jumpers(anyone that wants Kidd should look at what he did mentally to Giannis’s confidence there).

You have to imagine that this will be a MUCH quicker process than last time. The time Griffin took last time was beyond absurd.

Its just 8 months later. You've already interviewed many of the same candidates. Interview 2-3 new people at most, re-interview 2-3 you interviewed last time.

Make a decision. Quick.

Problem is, unless it is someone like Kidd(god help us), many of those guys are still coaching right now. Vaughn, Udoka, Lee are all still working, and might be for weeks.

It would need to be someone like Weaver, Vanterpool, Stotts, Atkinson, Vinson, or Kidd.

And honestly it’s still not ideal. Since once again we will have another shortened offseason trying to implement two new systems for a bunch of young immature players.

Some of them won't be coaching after this weekend.

And assistants have interviewed in the playoffs and been hired before.

All true, but nothing Griff has done to this point suggests we should assume he will execute this A.) Well, in terms of actually filling the role B.) in an efficient manner in terms of getting the coach in at the best time. Or C.) that it really even matters because it seems clear Griff probably wants a yes man and isn’t going to give the coach much say in the player acquisition process anyways. So before or after the draft probably makes no difference.

Griff will want the trophy and accolades if things go right, and look for a candidate he can blame shift to if things go wrong again.

Griff is a snake.

Carlisle was often difficult to deal with: lashing out verbally at non-star players he disliked or having angry outbursts directed at inanimate objects. Every corner of the Mavericks organization, there’s a shared sense of relief they no longer have to deal with him

I dont think he will fit here..
