I don’t think this team gives two shits about the media stuff. No one seems to be unhappy. Billy included especially since he’s starting to get some garbage time now. Truly a team.

I could eventually see Zion, I think BI just different and big market appeal may not mean much. But you never really saw this when the spurs were elite so if we’re a championship caliber team I could see us just keep rolling.

Nature of the beast. Luckily the Bucks success has helped to quiet things down because Giannis+company showed a small market team can compete and thrive and keep a star happy.

Love him, hate him, indifferent...idc, not here to debate Lebron. But I will say that the precedent set for generational talents having to go win championships at multiple teams has been set and is the only thing that worries me about Zion. I believe he will deliver one or more championships to us here in NOLA, but is that enough for his legacy since the individual legacy debate has devolved into basically coming down to team accomplishments (muh rings) arguments.

So who's the odd man out? I think it's CJ, but that contract we gave him...

I think in general the whole “glamour market” talking point is a lot harder to wedge in when teams like the Lakers and Nets look like dumpster fires and some of the best teams, with the best camaraderie right now, are a ton of non glamour market teams like MIL, MEM, NO, CLE, DEN, PHO, IND.

Zion to the Knicks comes off like a farce at this point considering how perpetually distraught and middling that franchise is.

But we can dip our toe in the tax and figure things out after the cap spike.

2025-26 is when the new TV money will start rolling in and there will be a cap spike. CJ will be the contract we need to work around, he'll be in his last year making $30.6.

Zion, Herb and Jose will all be on new deals in old cap dollars.
BI and Trey will be getting new deals that season in new cap dollars.
Dyson would get paid the following year in new cap dollars.

The real question is going to be can you walk away from CJ at that point and not need to replace him with another high money player. If you can replace him with the existing roster then you can probably get under the tax when he expires.

I think we can absolutely walk away from him at that point.

Zion and BI will be in their prime. Trey will be just about there. That's plenty of scoring.

My concern is just being stuck with an untradeable CJ contract.

RIGHT NOW there aren't many "large market" options for these sorts of deals.

The worry is in 2-3 years when the current generation of guys who jumped to form superteams retire, the cycle may restart.

CJ will be 34/35 so you figure you either let him walk or he signs a team friendly deal. Would be a really good bench player at that point.

CJ is going to move to the bench sooner than that. Dyson is too good to not get the starting PG position.

If Dyson puts on weight and improves his shot just a little he's going to be pushing a declining CJ very hard next year.
