Uhhhhh
Other than Gyno and SFP, people clowned the idea of Asik being worth 8 mil a year when he signed in Houston. You may not have been around though.

Houston's not getting Lebron.

Because by doing so you are giving a team in your division the best player, by far, in the NBA and fricking your salary cap?
Dude what the frick are you even talking about?

Paying 8 mil is not fricking our salary cap. Gordon is.
And we are not handing Houston AD. Not sure where you got that from.

because they think they are getting Bron. That doesn't mean they are getting him.

To make a run at any free agent?
They can't do shite before shedding major weight.

Do you REALLY think this trade puts you in the top 2-3 in your division? Really? I mean its an upgrade but you still are going to be just average at best.

This should turn them into a contender - for the 8 seed.
Allow them to play some good ole slow monty-ball.
But these kind of moves retard the ability to really contend.

Exactly and when they do you will be no better than 3rd , and possibly last behind the Mavs and Grizz, in your division. You have to admit that!

Dirk/Chandler, Howard, Duncan, Gasol/Randolph, Davis/Asik. My god, what a division.

I am too lazy to read 16 pages, can we still use the MLE to sign a decent SF or do we need to trade Gordon?
We lose the MLE since we're taking on Asik using cap space instead of sending out salary.

why do you care? what brought you from boasting about this or that on the OT. You're not a Rockets fan or a Pelicans fan and from the post I've read of yours on the NBA or basketball in general, you don't know jack shite.
essentially, what I'm getting to is: GTFO unless you are bringing something to the table besides your unfounded and useless opinions on a sport or team you know jack shite about

I am not a huge fan of trading picks, but I like this move. It gives the Pels a legitimate starting center that will fit well with AD and provide some cap options going into next offseason.
Yes, Asik is currently on a one year deal, but I think if he enjoys his role on this team, he'll eagerly re-sign next offseason to a reasonable, although maybe slightly higher deal.
Asik also can legitimately play 30+ minutes per game and if they end up trading Ryno for a pick and a SF, then it goes much farther in helping this team. Anderson is a great player on a very good deal, but if we can't field a competent starting center or SF to keep him on as a 6th man, then it's not great for the team overall.
In the end, I think this will be a solid move for a team that has a lot to prove next season.
My only issue is that with Monty as coach, this team will not perform to its talent level and a year and possibly this trade would be wasted.
