Free agent Tony Allen is finalizing a one-year deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, league sources tell The Vertical.

Damn you're fast.

Well there is one spot. I assume it will be for the minimum. Rotations should get interesting. Welcome to the island of misfit toys!

I like the signing. He'll provide some good vet leadership and grittiness.

As long as he's filling sneakers and not dress shoes.

This actually kind of makes me want Dante back a little less and for us to go get a stretch four like Mirotic. Or maybe we go all in on a better version of Memphis. Either way love the signing

Teams will legitimately be able to double our big men off the ball when Allen is on the court.

And if he's on the court WITH Rondo...

Was it really going to be any different than with Hill though? Allen's an F- on offense and Hill is a D but both were ignored on defense. Tony actually averages more ppg than solo and has a reasonable finishing percentage. I assume a lot of that is in transition, but he might be useful on dribble handoffs and other kind of cuts.

There were several plays last season where AD/DC literally created their own space in the lane with high low passing playing 2 on 4. Each is such a threat off the dribble that you don't stay at home on your man and each is 7 feet so they can pass over these small ball front courts to get the other big an easy basket. That's what will have to happen for this to work.

I hate, for Solomon Hill, that he got hurt. I didn't mind it for our basketball team.

Solomon Hill is a bad basketball player. 7ppg on 38% shooting with an 8 PER is disgustingly terrible.

We played 4 on 5 offense anytime he was on the court. His decent defense didn't come close to making up for his awful offense.

Tony Allen is older and worse than Hill. This won't work.

Whatever Davis and Boogie manage to figure out on offense will be in spite of Allen, and be made tougher by his presence on the court.

I was actually looking forward to seeing whether or not Miller could knock down a decent clip of all the open 3s he's gonna see.

Gentry benched Hill regularly at times during the season when he felt he was hurting more than helping. Hopefully he'll do the same with Allen and Miller will step up.

I can't say I'm excited about this, and I love Tony Allen.
Would much rather Dante.

I would have rather gotten a guy like Brandon Rush, not a worse offensive Solo like Allen.

Have to make another move for shooting, but if AD/DC are shooting 3 north of 35%, we should be okay with him on the court.

what's TJ Warren's asking price?

Regardless, we'll be watching the Pels very closely up here in Baton Rouge.

if you thought solo took some ill advised shots, tony Allen says "hold my beer"
so far with rondo and Allen they've signed maybe the two worst shooters in the damn league

I am going to have to see this work to believe it
