One huge benefit...Rondo pushes Jrue to the 2 guard more than likely.

At least Rondo will get to pad his assist numbers dribbling the air out the ball waiting to kick it out to our vast array of shooters....oh wait.

Rondo with the Mavs was an anomaly if anything.

Was it?

It's a one year deal people. This is a much lower risk than anything else we have talked about. We show Boogie we want him here and that we are going to do what it takes to put the best team on the court that doesn't cripple us long term. For all of you that bash Dell on a consistent basis about the contracts he has given out, can you not see that a one year deal for a player like Rondo is great move?

I'm 100% supportive of this

AD and Cousins ARE our shooters.. neither one is gonna be banging away under the basket just because they're 7' tall

Yea we want our two 7' footers taking low percentage jump shots and 3P.

Davis can work them in as he has proven he can knock down midrange shots at a nice clip. Still way more effective around the goal

Cousins is a sub 40% shooter from 10 feet out, I mean frick. But nearly unguardable around the basket. If cousins doesn't reel back his outside shooting and work the post more a rondo signing doesn't make sense

You still want a guy knocking down outside shots on kick outs from AD and Boogie. That guy isn't rondo or Solomon frickin Hill. Our best shooter is a concerted PG. This is why Reggie Jackson makes more sense to me

talk of Rondo having a low floor is weird. he hasn't given a damn about anything other than assist hunting in the regular season for about 5 years. anyone saying otherwise is just looking up stats and hasnt watched him play.

you could make a good case that, playing with three HOF's, rajon rondo was the best player on the floor in 2008/2009

those days are long gone

Bro I was with you on the Reggie Jackson deal but I can't support you here. Yes Rondo has had some big issues in the past but at this point in his career he knows he isn't a key piece to a championship roster. Plus even if he does go rogue, he'll be on a one year deal so we can just buy him out

He's also the best 3 point shooting big man in the league.

He's a high IQ player, and the Pels need as many of those as they can get.

Boogie shot 36% (37.5% as a Pel) from three last year. Gentry even said if we can knock the dumb shite shots out like the contested leaners, he could easily see Boogie shooting 40+.

We don't want him living out there, but he's not a liability from 3.

ETA: Gyno, I could see the trade focus shifting to that wing shooter you want instead of a combo guard like Lin, Smart, Bledsoe, Jackson, though Lin still works imo.

Until you see the first pick and roll slam by AD/DC.

AD- 25 PPG
DC- 20 PPG
Jrue- 15 PPG
Hill/3- 10 PPG
Rondo- 10 PPG
Bench- 15-20 PPG

That's 95-100 PPG how many more do you need? If Jrue and Hill can shoot halfway decent, all Rondo has to do is pass. This is a great deal. On the flip side, any other pass first point guard you Rondo haters would love it.

I also have zero doubt Boogie told him to cut the shite and Rondo won't come in acting an arse.

Does he know that though?

It's really not that I have a problem with it for a one year deal, I mean damn we have no point guards...It's that I am frustrated that this is where we are. We have the best big men in the NBA and we are grasping at the Rajon Rondos of the world to save us.

If it is either sit tight and do nothing to change the roster besides sign minimum guys and d-league call ups, then sure let's sign gotdamn Rondo. I just hope they have worn out the phones of every GM in the league before it gets to that point.

If Jrue, Moore, Crawford, or QPon are hanging on the 3 point line a defender wouldn't be wise to leave them open.

But you can't honestly believe that if the Pelicans sign Rondo it will be the only move they plan on making right?

In this scenario why is Qpon hanging on the 3 point line? Did he trip over his crutches thereby falling onto the court walking to the restroom?

literally everyone said the Pels needed to add shooting this summer. you could watch those last 25 games and see all the open shots Davis/Cousins created.

and so far.......they've brought in Darius Miller and a rookie 2nd round pick

I think we all share at least a little in that frustration. But I think Dell is doing a damn good job right now to make up for his piss poor job of signing Asik and Ajinca and leaving us with few assets. He can't undo the Asik signing today but what he can do is find a way to make it sting less

You could run lineups of

Rondo
Grits
Dudley/Lee/Vet FA(if any of those happen)
AD
DC

You could also sit one of them to give diallo minutes

Rondo
Jrue
One of above SFs
Hill as small ball 4
AD/DC

Lots of options
