Houston not Utah. I know it’s shocking but we actually beat the team from Utah.

Just curious? You guys think Willie pays the fine or Griff basically gets the organization to pay it?

If I were Griff, I would have told Willie I got the fine, say what you need to say. And I would have made sure some Pelicans staffer ask one of our beat writers to specifically ask Willie about it at the press conference. Best time to complain about it is after a win.

Why would Griff or the organization pay it? Willie probably makes more than Griff.

If I were Zion, or even BI, I would pay it for him.

If my math is correct, Herb Jones is now shooting 36% from 3 this season.

Griff has gone to the media on Zion's behalf before.. unfortunately Zion got hurt shortly after so it didn't matter

Also we are 4 games back of the 1 seed

Imagine if we don’t blow it against TWolves at home, Bulls, and Memphis x2. Feels like I’m forgetting a couple more but those are the big ones that are keeping us from being top of the West.

ETA: Really blew it against the Rockets x2 and Jazz x2 in November. Could easily have the best record in the NBA right now.

Herb is 9/14 over the last 3 games from the three point line.
CJ is 14/25 over the last 3 games from the three point line.
Jose is 7/17 over the last 3 games from the three point line.

Remember when a few posters nonstop would lose their minds over CJ last season, and they were constantly reminded of what CJ would be if actually playing his role as 3rd best player...

I don’t think who pays a fine is really the relevant point; it’s that Willie take the opportunity in a big win to call out how Zion is consistently given very few calls.

What a great win that was! When it all clicks we are legit…no one can beat us.

I agree with this. I wouldn’t be surprised if Griff told him to get the tech and the pelicans will foot the bill. Griff is not technically paying it from his own money-I bet the organization foots the bill.

Pels are 10-0 when CJ scores over 20

18-8 with CJ in the lineup

I don’t understand anyone saying we need to trade him

He had some clunky 4th quarters last year

Could have had something to do with the torn ligament in his hand though...... tough to say.

RIP Brentsura

Also pretty funny that Honest Man has done his usual disappearance during this win streak

I dont think anyone is saying we need to trade him now or even in the offseason but in a couple years money gets REALLY tight

Here for my CJ crow. He's really good as a spot up shooter and occasional late in the shot clock creator.

As a full-time PG he's bad.

He's been mostly great this season outside of whatever the frick happened on those two Memphis (or was it Houston) bricks.

So this win could end up being low key important

We just finished the season series with Minny... tied 2-2 (that 1 point loss in NOLA kinda stings)

We'll have to go to another tiebreaker should we somehow finish the season with the same record as Minny

And we don't see them again until a potential playoff series

Yea, if CJ is on the team next season, I assume that means we have committed to pay the tax the season after that.

2 seasons from now is CJ's last year and Trey's 1st year of his new deal.

I guess it's always possible to trade CJ next offseason, but then you can only move him to a team with enough cap space so that gets tricky.

So if we keep him past this offseason, I assume that means he plays out his contract, and the 2025 season with Trey's new deal, we're paying the tax.

I think I got the years right on that.
