I would trade BI for Claxton, DFS and some 1sts
and that is dumb, and would never happen.
We dont' need 1sts. If you want to trade BI, then you need an upgraded player from BI, or at least a similar level player. I don't want 1sts back, i want to send them out if necessary and go get a different allstar level player.
BI is better than Jerami Grant, but Jerami Grant might be a better fit on our team than BI. Claxton and DFS do absolutely nothing to make us better if BI goes out.
If Zion could be the true #1 and facilitator, having CJ/Trey/Grant to kick out to would be ideal, and all of them can finish if run off the line.
That kind of lineup would require more rebounding effort from Zion, Trey, and Grant.

I guess the main point is I'm not sure you need to get a player as good as BI. I'm not the trade guy that finds trades so just pointing out in theory, lesser players at spots we need could still make us better. Those spots IMO would be rim protecting big, more shooting, and another lead ball handler(likely a backup)

JFC, this team could have drafted Kessler, but we didn't.
ETA: The BI slander is ridiculous, and when this thread is bumped I'm going to laugh.

I try not to dwell on stuff like that too much, or at least the draft stuff. It's such a crapshoot, and overall with the draft and Jose/Naji undrafted signings, we've done well.
But yea, even if Lauri wasn't coming back, I've long never remotely understood how we couldn't get a 1st for Lonzo. I see no world where the Bulls simply would have walked away from Lonzo without at least giving us a 1st, we had ALL of the leverage, it was entirely up to us. And we botched it, then turned around and paid a 1st for a lesser player. It is what it is.

Never heard of Bennedict Mathurin? The guy that was a rookie sensation last season for the Pacers? Someone alot of people i t he league were wondering how they could get?

I disagree, I think it’s addition by subtraction. You’re giving BI’s shots to players who take smarter shots and give this team a much needed rim protector.

and i get what you are saying, and i don't disagree, which is why i say swappign him with 40% 3 point shooting Grant who plays great defense could make us better.
It's why i've said even Zach Lavine could be better for us than BI b/c of his 3 point shooting (strictly b/c of that although i don't want his attitude).
We can get a rim protector by other means, not by trading BI, unless you want to talk about trading BI for Bam or JJJ.
If we are going to win a championship, it will depend on who Zion becomes. It's as simple as that. Either he becomes the elite player he needs to be or he doesn't. Doesn't matter who BI is or becomes. We aren't winning shite unless Zion gets to MVP level.
And i truely believe if he wants to weigh 260-270lbs, then he needs to be the guy defending the other teams big in the clutch. He has the size and leverage to not get backed down. If he can hold his own, block that guy out and team rebound (something we saw for a short time against SAC when he guarded Sabonis), then the sky is the limit for this team.
If he can guard the big, and then force teams to have to defend him with something like CJ or Hawkins, 38% shooting Herb, Trey, and Grant sitting on the 3 point line, we would win multiple championships. He'd also have to learn to hit clutch free throws.
we could easily make a trade happen with the framework of
BI to Utah
John Collins to Portland
Kessler and Jerami Grant to Pels
but i would be shocked if we were even listenign to offers for BI, much less actually trading him in the next month.

Griff is absolutely going to make a serious attempt to trade JV.

Building from the dialogue I had with a few yesterday regarding Zion and the future :
Would you trade Zion for Mikal Bridges ?

Absolutely not
Bridges is the type of player that would fit perfectly WITH Zion.
Now would I trade Ingram for him? Absolutely, I would probably even include a couple 1sts if it were required to make the deal.

Do you think the nets would trade Mikal for Zion ?

We have too many long perimeter G/F.
I would rather do a similar deal for Lauri a F/C.
Imagine a starting five of
CJ
Herb
Trey
Zion
Lauri
Bench: Dyson, Jordan, and Larry

That would be the worst rebounding team in the league.
The only way a Lauri for BI deal works is if Lauri takes BI’s spot in the starting lineup keeping Trey on the bench.
Mikal would take Herb’s starting spot because of his great defense, and still allow us to place Trey into the starting 5 giving us 3 40+% shooters surrounding Zion in the starting 5. That would immediately make us the best starting offensive 5 in the league.

I disagree . I think the nets would say no or ask for additional assets .
What I’m realizing though is that many on this board either see something that I just don’t see regarding Zion .
Or
are just holding on to the hope that he will be something more

We know what Zion’s value is, and people like you think he would be a salary dump.
I can guarantee you, IF Zion were to ever get traded ( I still think Ingram would be traded before Z), we would get a package that would rival what we got for AD and would be closer to what Brooklyn got for KD

He was good, not unbelievable. We really do misremember that series. There were very high highs for him but also low lows.
He averaged nearly 40 minutes a game, shot .407 for 3 and averaged 27 pts, 6.2 rebs, 6.2 asts. He went 30, 6, 6 against the clippers to get us there.
Ingram was great during that stretch. Perhaps not unbelievable but certainly great.

Don’t come in here with positive BI stats. It’s unwelcomed and irrelevant.
