Yeah I just don’t see why we trade Val considering how vital he’s been this year.

According to Cleaning the Glass, we are at negative 1.8 points per 100 possessions with our starting five.

If you think that a team with a negative starting unit is a title contender, then I don't know what to tell you.

Our Big 3 with Larry is a good unit. Our Big 3 with JV is not.

I guess my question is do we really need that? Especially with all the players we already have that can contribute in a variety of ways.

In the playoffs, defenses tighten up, rotations are shorter, and it's much harder to create open shots. Jose, Dyson, and Naji aren't going to be effective. We could absolutely use another creator.

I mean you have BI Zion CJ and honestly even Trey. You can throw it into the post to JV to get buckets. Personally I think all we need is a true rim protecting center. Not sure if we need a high vet usage player off the bench personally.

You just outlined the problem. When Zion and BI are off the court, we regularly count on JV to create shots in the post. If we replace JV with someone like Jarrett Allen, then we exacerbate our need for an elite creator off the bench.

That lady legend nba announcer ( forget name) was saying we need a defensive center for the playoffs

When she said that JV scored 15 straight points

Yea I mean that’s like getting the pink starburst variety of gunner. But sometimes you open up the pack and you just get the Jannero Pargo flavor of gunner.

Worst is opening a two pack and getting double yellow. But Im looking for someone that can score 15 pts in 15-20 min one night or could rack up DNP or 10 min the next night depending on the matchup. Alec Burks or Mcdermott maybe.

Hawk fits that mold, but Willie likes to lean on his vets especially come playoff time.

So instead of keeping JV we’ll trade for Allen and an elite bench creator- I’m sorry its like you’re creating problems when there are none. Keep JV and just add a cheap rim protector. I know easier said than done- but that makes more sense.

I wonder what it would take for Cam Thomas it seems like Brooklyn might have gotten tired of him not playing defense. He’s back on the bench if we strictly want a scorer off the bench go get him

Dude is a black hole on offense and his defense is atrocious. I really can’t see him fitting in with this team.

Sounds like the definition of a gunner to me.

No, we do not need that.

We have 3 legit dudes on this team. We don't need a gunner, which is basically an inefficient volume shooter. Those dudes only have value on a 1 man team where no one else can get buckets so you live with inefficient scoring in a dude who can go off here and there. That's the last thing we need.

Why?

I'm one of the biggest Val fans on this board but Allen provides a skill set much more vital to what we need than Val.

What good does it do us to add a dude who provides the nothing else other than woefully inefficient scoring?

Cam Thomas is a truly awful basketball player. The Nets are so much worse every time he steps on the court.

Even as an lsu fan, I like the kid but he isn’t a “winning” basketball player. Inefficient chucker with no defense or length. Yeah sign me up!!!

I was responding to what the guy said which is if the Pels are looking for a bench scorer only than Thomas would be an option, now if the Pels want someone that plays offense and defend than obviously Thomas isn’t an option.
