Lol. You can’t be serious?
Yup Lowery would have definitely led us to the finals with no Zion this year and BI hurt half the time. Geez.

The only deal that I could see making sense for us would be CJ + Herb for salary purposes plus picks
Portland would not want CJ back. So we would have to find a trade partner that would either add more draft capital or talented young prospects that Portland would want for CJ.
I just don't think a trade package of largely lottery chips, young assets + best player today being included in that trade as Herb being enough to entice Portland
The last Laker pick still has the deferral option which would most likely have to be exercised due to the Lakers on paper looking like a top 4 West team this year, the Milwaukee picks are still wait and see
Our future picks with a combination of Dame, Zion, BI, Trey etc probably not that enticing either
You have to call for due diligence just to be sure...but I expect nothing to come of this on our end unless Griff thinks this will be a multi team deal and wants to use this chance to go after some of the other players included to address our remaining holes like potentially getting off Kira, Temple, JV etc to create salary or find a better suited big

You’re basing this on what exactly?
Age and contract.

Durant is older and just fetched the largest trade package ever.
a. Meh at the "largest trade package ever"
b. There is a much bigger gap between Durant and Lilard than Lilard and BI. MUCH.

Dame just had statistically his best season ever.
Gunning on a shite team without the ability to play defense anymore.

Dame’s closest comparison in the league is Steph
No it's not, but it is convenient for the argument you're trying to build.
Dame's closest comparison is probably Beal when he'd get to the rim or the elder version of Harden.
Dame has shot 40% from 3 ONCE in his career. He's much more of a driver and FT-dependent scorer than Curry is. Much less of a shooter.

So you want to pay a guy like a #1 when he’s not a #1, but don’t want to trade that overpaid #2-3 for a true #1?
Again, for how long do we have either and for what price?

Herb cannot be traded, he just signed an extension

Griff probably offered JV and Kira for Dame

Name a better package that had multiple good young players, one who is an all star and DPOY candidate, 4 1st round picks and swaps.

This is just plain false.

That season was far more than points scored, but yea he put up the most points of his career even though it was him and a bunch of JAGS.

Hawkins just signed his rookie deal so he cant be trade for 30 days

quote:#2 guys get paid like #1s in today's NBA, max contracts. That's the market rate, it's not an overpay to give a #2 a max.
So you want to pay a guy like a #1 when he’s not a #1, but don’t want to trade that overpaid #2-3 for a true #1?
Doesn’t make sense
quote:Because you keep thinking it's 1 max dude for Dame but not factoring things we'd have to do to remain viable.
Doesn’t make sense
If we were going to be a Warriors like over the tax team, I'd say let's pair up Zion and Dame and go for it. We won't, so you have to factor in who else gets moved to make room for Dame's money.

I didn't know if the extension was finalized. I guess it makes sense it would be since it was an extension and not a FA deal like the one Portland just gave Grant where they still could have rescinded or reworked the deal

quote:Highly doubt we have even made an offer. Probably just a call to see what the market is.
Griff probably offered JV and Kira for Dame

I’m not totally against trading BI, especially to make room for Trey to start in his place. But it’ll be for a package for a young up and coming point guard. Not sure who that would be for, would like SGA but he’s probably untouchable at this point. Maybe Garland if rumors are true?

If I’m getting Dame, it’s to team him up with BI and Zion. No way you lose one of those guys for Dame. Keep Trey, BI, and Z. Everything else can go
Posted on 7/3/23 at 12:04 pm to Macintosh
quote:We realistically won't do that. We could, but we won't. We're not going to be a repeater tax team.
Keep Trey, BI, and Z.
It would also mean CJ has to be the mean dude in a trade, which won't happen without a 3rd team, which then makes it even more unlikely.

OK so you added a qualifier there in bold I'm ignoring.
We got more for AD. We got a young player of similar value to both Bridges (BI) and Johnson (Zo), AND Josh Hart, AND the #4 pick with 2 1sts and a swap.
Just because Griffin fricked up the #4 pick doesn't take away from what we got.
Also, Utah's haul for Gobert was quite impressive as well.

This is just plain false.
No. You just don't want it to be true.
Dame's terrible defense hurts his overall value. It's why he's had such little success in Portland title-wise.

Now tell me how awesome Jalen Green is on Houston because he scores a lot on a shite team.
quote:
ok i see you have no idea what you’re talking about.
Beal (when he would get to the line) is much closer than Steph. Steph is not really like Dame at all

quote:
Wait, what?
Exactly what I said.
Dame is closer to Durant than Ingram is to Dame.
Dame is an Allstar/All-NBA player nearly every year, Ingram has made a single all star game once in his career.
Again, y’all SERIOUSLY overvalue Ingram.

Leave it bro. He literally thinks we’re winning a title with this core. Thats the hill he’ll die on lol
