re: Pelicans, one of the teams, reached out to Portland for Damian Lillard

Damn y’all are crazy. This isn’t prime 25 year old Lillard. He’s 33, small and has an albatross of a contract. What do y’all think the Nets and Heat will offer? Here’s a hint, not anything close to packages like this.
That's the point. We have to massively beat those packages. You think we would offer less? Why bother negotiating then? It doesn't make any sense.
People are mad this is a discussion. But evidently the Pelicans are in the mix, so they are offering something. That's what we are speculating about..

I'm just saying I'd listen to a trade for Dame involving Zion.
Would we get Scoot or Sharpe and some draft capital? If not, then it's a bad deal.

Yup, we can throw out Ingram, Dyson, Kira and 2 1sts and there’s not a team out there that would beat it. Miami wouldn’t put Butler or Bam up, and Brooklyn wouldn’t put Bridges.
That trade package would only have us 2-3 million into the tax after filling out the roster (easy to get under with a Jonas for Gafford type deal at the deadline), and we still have a pick every single year.

And why do we have to massively beat those packages? Their packages will be garbage. We just have to have the better package. The Portland GM has to decide if he wants to do right by his team or Lillard.

Seriously, who would beat that? Realistic targets (of course Utah or OKC could).
The Nets if they dealt Bridges? Maybe.

I'd want something else, yes. Dame's contract is just too big.

Guess what if Ingram is included in a trade, no team can beat that to start off unless the Celtics are including Brown. Or Nets Bridges, but then what’s the point of trading for Dame?
If it’s Ingram, it’ll be with Kira and Temple and nothing else. No firsts or Dyson.

Who could/would beat that?
Portland has made it clear they want an all star level player in return along with picks, which they get, along with 2 young players.
There’s not a team out there that would beat it, Miami doesn’t have the player nor the picks to send, and Brooklyn doesn’t have the player (they wouldn’t trade Bridges for Dame as it wouldn’t make sense).

I guess people forget about watching basketball and just concentrate on age and contracts. The guy scored 71 last season in a game. But lets just focus on that hes washed, has a huge contract and our stars are better than him lol Getting dame would be huge for this franchise period, even if it costs one of our stars.

Why the frick would we want to overly outbid every other team for Dame? xD xD xD

Seems like I’m having dejavu with the same posters on here that kept telling me that I was wrong and the team needed to add Lowery a few years ago. Think where we would be if Griff got his way. Age and contracts are real numbers.

Teams make calls all the time without making a deal. You do your due diligence and if the offer is too much or you can't get in with what you're comfortable with, that's fine.
But people think every single time your team has a report that they made a call and then your team doesn't make a trade, it's some huge failure that the GM couldn't get the deal done. It's silly.

That’s not an overbid….

If you're making a franchise-altering trade, age and contracts matter a great deal.
You want to throw our future away for 1, maybe 1.5 years of a WCF ceiling window? Fine, but that's idiotic.

Not really. We said the same shite about Beal a few years ago and he just got dealt for a literal salary dump (and he's younger than Dame). Be careful what you wish for, especially in the NBA and especially with aging stars.

You know whats real numbers?? Wins. If Griff got his way, we might be better off. Lowry was a key part of Miamis postseason success. CP3 is a bonafide winner. But its ok we got CJ on a huge contract that cant get us past OKC in the play-in.
