The Bucks trade isn't official yet, so they pick for us.

He's lots of a combo guard no?

Is Whiteside an option for center?

Honest to god I had no idea the draft was going on
Officially means I’m out on the NBA

Draft capital
2020
1st round, 13th pick - Kira Lewis PG, Alabama
1st round, 24th pick - RJ Hampton G, United States (traded to Denver for a lottery protected first round pick in 2023)
2nd round, 39th pick - Elijah Hughes SG, Syracuse (traded to Utah for a 2022 second round pick)
2nd round, 42nd pick - Nick Richards C, Kentucky (traded to Charlotte for a 2024 second round pick)
So let me get this straight, after all the hype about trades and the accumulation of all these picks, we got 1 player in this years draft? We got a steal with RJ Hampton (who was projected as a top 5 pick at one time) at pick 24 and then they trade him away for equal or lesser value in the 2023 draft? We needed a true Center to help Zion down low and be a rim protector, we draft Nick Richards and then trade him away for a future 2nd in the 2024 draft? At what point do the Pels start to actually use these pick to their benefit now rather than just kicking the can down the road? I'm confused as hell.

unlikely. this draft is shite
RJ Hampton was the 24th pick in a shitty draft. that's a mid-late 2nd rounder in most drafts

Eventually. Maybe some are used next week. Maybe we don’t really use them for 2-3 years.

I’m pretty lost too. One minute we’re being told we want to compete but then we trade away our players and current picks for future picks with various languages attached to it. I don’t get it but maybe there’s something else in FA that will improve the team. Hopefully, we can get a C and/or a big that can defend the paint and shoot the 3.

These aren’t contradictory.
We traded one player for two players that could either be big contributors or be packaged for someone who can be a big contributor for us. And we got a bunch of future picks back.
We also may be planning on signing or trading for a couple more contributors. Why would we add more young guys who won’t play this year to our roster. We already have plenty of young guys who need minutes to develop.
At some point those guys will develop or be sent out and then we’ll use the picks on more young guys or package them for a star.

Trading away picks for future picks IS showing we want to compete.
90% of rookies aren’t going to do jackshit this year for the reasons I’ve listed numerous times.
Do people honestly think we were going to rely on a 2nd round pick at Center to start for us? Jesus.
Also, a future draft pick is almost always worth more than the player that got picked immediately.

I’m not counting on a second round pick. But we picked our 7th guard on the roster with our lottery pick and traded away all other picks for a future late first and second picks. We didn’t really add anyone who can really contribute to the roster in the draft but just push the peanut a few years back. Unless we have a few trades lined up in FA, I don’t understand how we’re getting better. All that we are doing is hoping to trade for a big name player that would want to play in NOLA long term (when history tells us not many all stars are lining up to come here).

Why are you judging our roster and off-season before it’s complete?
We obviously have plans for trades and FA signings.
