The reaction among the Kings front office to the news Tyreke Evans had a four year, $44 million offer coming in from the Pelicans is pretty much the same one you had: They are going to pay him how much? While they may ultimately decide not to, the Kings are considering matching the offer, reports the Sacramento Bee. A source speaking on the condition of anonymity because negotiations are ongoing, indicated the Kings are considering matching the offer, even though the Pelicans’ offer sheet is above what they thought Evans would receive from another team.

Nothing new. Just the same shite regurgitated by another source.

Oh and

Smart money still says the Kings let him go. But the Kings are at least thinking about it.

Not necessarily. If anything, that report sounds like they're really timid about giving him that much. We could entice them with some S&T options and get him over here.

I still STRONGLY suspect that it's their attempt to get something (Vasquez or the player he'd fetch from a 3rd team) for letting him walk. All I know for certain is that there's no reason for them to announce/leak that they won't match it.

Considering matching the offer and people are acting like it is a done deal... Anyone heard of sign and trade? Just let it play out.

The Kings will play a game of chicken here. Like all teams do with RFAs.

They will make us wait.

Possibly

Unfortunately for us, the only option Sacramento has that makes ZERO sense for them is to just let Reke walk for nothing

It just doesn't make business sense for them

They are either keeping him or a sign and trade. Those are the only logical options from the Kings perspective.

I imagine a sign and trade will ultimately be what happens.

Does not compute.

I agree, though. You can't tell for sure, but this could easily be their tactic of making us nervous we'll lose out and give up more than we originally would in a S&T.

Hey guys, free agency has only been going on for 45 hours. Doesn't it feel like it's been a week already?

I'm just going to be so anxious over this Tyreke thing until something finally happens. Every move after that will be minor but this one could be huge.

The anxiety kicked in when the kings reportedly are considering matching. Especially when reports initially said they weren't going to match whatever the offer was.
