Soooo...i guess everyone should just be ok with a middle of the road team? Can beat bad teams but not the good ones? I mean aight we lower expectations for this organization...

Pels are 6-6 vs the top 4 in the West this year.

There’s always dumb comments like this yet we have a good record against winning teams.

Well they’re basically getting paid like one

We have the 11th highest Salary in the NBA and we have the 9th best record in the NBA.

I'd say we're outperforming our Salary right now.

So we’re paying the 11th highest salary to be the 9th best team (5th in our conference) and not be a contender?

Meanwhile Minnesota has the 12th highest salary and OKC the 19th. And they’re the top 2 seeds in the west. So before you talk about outperforming salaries take a look at teams who’s timelines are similar to ours with cheaper salaries and their records.

I said nothing that suggested a bottom feeder. I just suggested this isn’t necessarily a championship roster.

And thats a serious problem when we’re already the 11th highest salary and we have to resign/give pay raises to bring some of these same guys back. My point being I don’t think we’re paying this team to be a middle of the run playoff team.

We’ve never made the conference finals so I don’t get the complaint, we should be happy if we win 1 playoff series.

Also, Zion hasn’t played in the playoffs, how do you know we’re a middle of the road playoff team? We have one the best point differentials in the nba and also the sixth best record against winning teams.

It would be nice if our “fans” waited until the season ended before making blanket statements like you did.

It would be nice if our “fans” had some higher expectations. Just because we haven’t achieved a lot previously doesn’t mean we should be satisfied. Its this kind of attitude that only doesn’t win championships but satisfies this organization into not making major improvements to win big. Because franky the fanbase is happy being a middle of the run playoff team.

We have a fine coach. It’s just the nature of dumbasses on message boards to always want to fire a coach because it’s low hanging fruit. Willie is wonderful.

So ignore all the games Willie was blatantly outcoached? That isn't any better.

His game plan looks good when our shooters go on heaters and blow teams out, but late in close games it hasn't been pretty. Questionable lineup choices and timeout usage too.

You have no idea if this is true, you just sound like you’re projecting. Nobody is happy with losing early in the playoffs every year. But there’s a difference between being realistic and unrealistic. Nothing wrong with being satisfied with losing a hard fought series in the 2nd round to the nuggets this year. Pels actually winning consistently year to year is a huge accomplishment and never has been done here before. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying that. It doesn’t mean I don’t want to win titles, it just means I’m being realistic and don’t want to fire the coach or blow up the roster if we don’t make the conference finals this year.

I remember literally people saying the exact same thing when the saints hired Sean Payton. “Benson won’t spend enough to get us over the hump, management is OK with being good not great”. Yet we won the Super Bowl a couple years later because we continued to build up the roster and didn’t over react to a disappointing loss or season.

Pels are doing the same. We’re on pace to have a top 5 season since they moved to New Orleans. Try to enjoy it instead of projecting whatever insecurities you have.

This has nothing to do with the Saints and comparing the two is nonsensical. But thats the problem, pelicans in fans views will always be second to the Saints- its why fans expectations of this organization are a lot lower.

Do you think this is NBA title contending team? If you think it is you don’t watch basketball. This is a typical response from a NFL fan who thinks anything can happen once you get into the NBA playoffs. This isn’t the NFL and unless you think this team is a title contender- then yes this is a middle of the road NBA playoff team. The fact you think there is nothing wrong with enjoying that completely proves my point of the low expectations people have of this franchise.

Having high expectations isn’t projecting insecurities. Its expecting more. Maybe aim a little higher for your sports teams instead of satisfactory and you’ll get more. I’m sorry this enjoy the first round loss ride is typical “participation trophy BS” in sports nowadays.

Constantly has put Zion in lineups with no shooters. When Nance and Naji are struggling in a game, rides them too long instead of utilizing other guys on the bench. Lets leads dwindle instead of calling timeout. Instead immediately inserting Zion late in the game with a timeout, will constantly wait for a break in the game as again game gets away.

Just curious have you been watching this team all season or just started watching last week?

Yes I watch literally every game I can. Since you watch so many games I’m gonna assume you know the following:

We have one of the best records in the nba
We have one of the best point differentials in the nba
We have one of the best road records
In our wins, we have a top 3 margin of victory
We’re in the top 10 in offense and defense ratings
We have one of the best core group of young players in the league
We have guys below David Griffin being interviewed for GM roles
We have assistant coaches getting interviewed for head coaching jobs
We have one of the best records against teams over .500

And your complaint is that our ownership and fan base are accepting being mediocre and will never compete for titles because in your extremely limited basketball knowledge you don’t like some of Willie’s rotations and timeouts?

4th in point differential but 8th in record actually proves the point that they struggle in close games (clutch stats as they are now referred to show them at 9-13, 24th in the league).

What?? Lol I was answering two different posts of yours and you just combined the two to come to this conclusion. I literally laughed when I read this.

Willie has issues as a coach and that is one of the issues of this team. My comment that some of this fan base wants us to be happy because we lose in the first round is a completely different topic. Forget basketball knowledge you need to go back to reading comprehension.

Yeah this is a bit worrisome considering how close some of the playoff games will be.

Our roster has almost zero playoff experience. It's hard to make a deep run in the playoffs without having been there before a few times.

If we can make it to the second round this year, that is a successful season and our fans should be happy with that. That doesn't mean 2nd round is a success forever, but right now I think it is.
