Those ‘21, 23’, and 25’ picks are where the value potentially lies, particularly imo that 2023 pick. There’s a reason I’d bet the Lakers aren’t offering anything past Lebron’s current deal. It’s a gamble...sure. The Lakers are pigeon holing themselves though if they trade away all their young assets and their first round picks every other year. The point of the 4 firsts is to paint the Lakers into a corner. How the hell are they supposed to improve if they have two 40 million/yr players on payroll and no way to bring in guys on rookie deals or assets/picks to trade? If anything reasonablylarge starts to go wrong at all (injuries, Lebron physically declining, lack of luring free agents to play with Lebron in his mid 30s), the Pels benefit from the Lakers having no where to go. If the Pels own their rights every other year as well, the Lakers won’t be able to trade the even numbered years either because of the back to back firsts rule.

ETA: I’d think the seconds are a way for the Pels to double down on the “leave no room for them” idea.

idk I'm starting to kind of agree. This would be hard to turn down because LeBron is aging and we all know Davis misses at least 10-15 games a year.

The Lakers would be fricking GUTTED if they accept that offer.

The 1st round picks would be bottom first round with AD and LeBron. They would immediately be a top 5 team. It’s a long shot but I would be trying to do a deal with the Bucks for the Giannis. Superstar for superstar. Boston really doesn’t have many appealing players. Tatum is a nice player but he’s nowhere near AD. They would have to give me Tatum and 4 1st round picks unprotected plus take back Solomon Hill’s contract. I would then try to deal Mirotic for another 1st before he hits free agency and try to sign Julius Randle to a new deal. I would rather still have AD but the Pelicans can build around Holiday and Randle with multiple 1st round picks and money to spend. Dell Demps does not need to be involved though. He’s got to go along with Gentry. Start clean.

1) This is not how any of this works.

2) Even if this was how it works and landed Giannis, we'd just be doing this all over again a year later because he isn't re-signing here.

News flash thats always going to happen. We have players until they can sign elsewhere then they go to a big market. That will never change. It’s why the NBA is a joke.

Not true. George just signed in OKC long term. Giannis will say in Milwaukee if they keep winning

Why would we want the Lakers first round picks though? If they get AD to go with Lebron, those picks won't be anywhere near the lottery.

What reason do the Bucks have to trade AD for Giannis? Giannis is signed for a while, AD is not. AD is oft injured, Giannis is not. Bucks want to trade for someone to pair with Giannis, not trade him away.

Who cares about that game, lowest rated one in 10 years because one team didn’t deserve to be there.

As much fun as this part is it doesn’t factor into the final decision I want the Pelicans to make. Magic will do a good enough job messing the Lakers up on his own. I want max value for AD that can be used in as close proximity to the trade as possible. Not something five years from now contingent on so many variables you won’t be able to predict. Like the Lakers getting smart and dumping Magic as GM.

Orlando: Randle/Ball
LAL: AD/Hill/Frazier
Philly: Niko
NOP: Gordon/Fultz/Ingram/Kuzma/Zubac/Hart/Rondo(waived)/Stevenson(waived)/Orlando 2019 1st/19,21,23,25 1sts from LAL

I could live with that, might need 1 more 1st from LA though, we would be giving them a great player in Frazier

Given AD’s injury history, I wouldn’t count on him being out there every night. And that will be a huge deal if they are otherwise depleted.

You also have to factor in LeBoo’s workload management & wine nights.

Lebron has already played more games in history than anyone by this age. He’s got less time left than people think.

All I know is I’m enjoying fricking with the Lakers.

I’ve got a question, say the offers from the Knicks and Celtics don’t come in initially how the pels want. How do they go back to the Lakers in the offseason and say “we want that February package and deal

That's just it. We don't want the February package. It's a dressed up shite sandwich.

Great - let's load up on 1st round picks in the 20s for Demps to completely waste.
Demps and Gentry need to be FIRED - period.

And about 10 teams could and would gladly beat that shite offer. Even for a rental.
