Good. Keep releasing this and asking for the world. Turn Lebron and Klutch against the Lakers instead of the Pels. What are they going to do? Start saying AD isn’t worth that with their mouthpieces? That would be a hilarious turn of events, but it won’t happen. The Lakers won’t publicly say Davis isn’t worth that. Lebron and Klutch can’t say he isn’t worth that.

The Pelicans just need to stand on their side of a firm line and make the Lakers come over or make the Lakers and Lebron tell AD “we want you, but we don’t want you THAT bad.”

And if they accept 4 unprotected firsts, I can’t see how the Pels say no. There’s so much assumption on this board that Tatum and Zion are locks. That the Lakers offer will always be there etc..

I’ve got a question, say the offers from the Knicks and Celtics don’t come in initially how the pels want. How do they go back to the Lakers in the offseason and say “we want that February package and deal”? Just by going back to it is admitting you didn’t get the offers you wanted and the Lakers now have leverage to take things off the table.

At some point, they may actually have to make a choice...

Exactly. Lakers draft picks are nearly worthless if we do this deal. This is all posturing for the summer. This is all getting used to set up everyone’s initial offer come July. This is going to be the biggest trade in sports history if this keeps up

Those ‘21, 23’, and 25’ picks are where the value potentially lies, particularly imo that 2023 pick. There’s a reason I’d bet the Lakers aren’t offering anything past Lebron’s current deal. It’s a gamble...sure. The Lakers are pigeon holing themselves though if they trade away all their young assets and their first round picks every other year. The point of the 4 firsts is to paint the Lakers into a corner. How the hell are they supposed to improve if they have two 40 million/yr players on payroll and no way to bring in guys on rookie deals or assets/picks to trade? If anything reasonablylarge starts to go wrong at all (injuries, Lebron physically declining, lack of luring free agents to play with Lebron in his mid 30s), the Pels benefit from the Lakers having no where to go. If the Pels own their rights every other year as well, the Lakers won’t be able to trade the even numbered years either because of the back to back firsts rule.

ETA: I’d think the seconds are a way for the Pels to double down on the “leave no room for them” idea.
