Indeed. Should have been Voodoo. I think there was some talk that Benson was trying to buy the rights to the name from the AFL. One of the best logos in sports.
As far as whether this rumor is true. I suppose anything is possible. Gayle seems to want to make a clean break/reinvent the team and elevate them to Saints status (no easy feat). Although I was under the impression the Pelicans name and colors were Gayle's idea or, at least, favored by her.
