Pelicans will have a better record this season than the Rockets.

I think that the Pelicans have more overall talent than the Rockets, but I'm still worried about chemistry and coaching. I could see the Rockets finishing anywhere from the 4-9 seeds. The Pels could finish anywhere from 4-11. Same ceilings, but the Pels having a floor about 6 or 7 games lower. And getting to that 4 spot would assume Jrue returns to his first half of 2012/13 caliber of play, and EG somewhere between last season and his best LAC season. I think people can eliminate the "if AD makes another leap" question. He's shown that he HAS made another leap in the preseason and FIBA.

This is the best time of the year for homers but this is a bit much you should be aiming for 8 seed not trying to play up to the record of one of the hard hitters in the conference. Setting the bar too high leads to disappointment.

Truth be told we have the be(a)st center in the league. Truth be told we have the be(a)st SG In the league. And the pieces around them fit quite well. Just need to find consistent bench production.

No way. Gasol and Noah are better, and I promise that a vast majority of GM's would prefer one or both of them to Howard. Dwight probably is the 3rd best, though.

I won't disagree with that, though the state of SGs in the NBA right now is really bad. He's the best SG but probably in that 15-20 range as a player.

Agreed. I really like Ariza next to Harden, allowing Trevor to defend the best wing player. Problem is if Ariza goes back to not giving a frick mode after having a really good make-money mode season. Plus he's definitely a downgrade from Parsons. Beverly is solid and I think that Jones is underrated by many.

Comparing the two teams, I'd say:
PG: slight edge to Jrue over Beverly, though Beverly is more of a sure solid player whereas Jrue could be great or a disaster

SG: obvious solid edge to Houston, even if Gordon stays healthy and plays well. I think Gordon will be an above average SG though.

SF: Tie. I think Reke has a solid edge over Ariza as an overall player, but Ariza is a pure 3 whereas Reke is a bit out of place

PF: Strong edge to Pels. AD will be, at worst, the second best PF behind Love. Jones is an OK but not great starter (still very capable, doe).

C: Will be fun. Howard is the better player. Asik has an edge on defense, but he's a full blown retard on offense.

The thing is, the obvious offensive edge that Howard has over Asik isn't a huge deal since, with Jrue, EG, Reke, and AD next to him, Asik doesn't have to do shite on offense.

And while I disagree with the thought, many people feel that the team with the best player on the court has a huge advantage regardless of the rest of the team. Right now, AD is without a doubt better than Harden and Howard.

How do you figure that?

Off of what I've seen, I've always considered Noah and Marc Gasol in the top tier, Hibbert and Asik in the next, then Howard, LARRY SANDERS!!! (before he went insane), and Chandler in that next group. There's not a huge difference, and Howard clearly has more skills on offense (despite his not being an offensively "skilled" player, he doesn't have retard hands like Asik and is clearly more explosive). Simply put, from what I've seen of them playing, Asik has an edge in overall defense in terms of altering shots, intelligent rotations, and not fouling while Howard is better at getting blocks and making more obvious big impact defensive plays.

I don't think there is anything that could ever support what he is saying. Dwight Howard is one of the greatest defensive players in league history. He is far and away still the best Center in the league. I think guys on here are picking at you, just to get a reaction..

So, the game was on some random NBA channel last night. I just searched for NBA and found it. Really poor feed from the Houston telecast.

How many guys have won DPOY 3x much less 3 seasons in a row? 5x all defensive team and he is only 28. So yeah, as of now he is one of the greatest defensive players in league history. That's not a stretch..
