. Sexton not only is a potential usage conflict with Zion/Ingram, he'd probably cost 2-3 1sts to trade for.

I agree i wouldn't trade for sexton but do you really think someone would pay 2 or 3 firsts for him?

I don't.

Don't feel this should get a new thread so I'll put it here... What's all these cryptic tweets about from Pels media?

LINK

Fletcher whatever his name is also tweeted the popcorn emoji around the same time.

What's the deal!!!

The lottery hasn't even happened yet, I can't imagine it has anything to do with player moves.

It's probably just something blogger related. If it's team related I'd think it's about staff additions. They did just part ways with the strength and conditioning coach. Unless he was replaced with an internal promotion that seems like someone you'd want in place now.

If they knew something they would say it.

Likely media related.

Eh it seems bigger than that.

All the usual pels twitter guys are tweeting very non descript hints at something happening tomorrow.

If it was media related they'd all be sucking each others dicks already.

Honestly I think they fire the fat man.

That's the odds on favorites I'd guess, but if they all know it, why wouldn't someone break the story and risk someone else landing that scoop?

It's very weird, to say the least.

Would Stan retiring for health reasons be sensitive enough for a media embargo to be respected? Griff and Stan both have been part of the media, so maybe they have the pull to release the news on their terms?

That's the only way I could see this being a big piece of news. We're not even talking the pro beat writers, these are the semi-pros, it's hard to see them having something that is both juicy and not being reported elsewhere like you said.

If most of these guys knew it they’d report it. We aren’t talking about Woj. We are talking bloggers.

The secret wouldn’t be kept.

I also think it's worth pointing out that back in the day when MM and Ryan Schwann were doing the podcast for BSS, they were tipped that somebody big was getting fired the next day. They assumed it was Monty because the news came down right after a bitter loss to the Knicks IIRC, and they hosted an emergency podcast about it.

The next day it turned out that the Hornicans weren't firing anybody, but the Saints did fire their head of scouting Rick Reiprish.

its definitely worth investigating Sexton’s cost and fit

Say you do your due diligence and you are comfortable with Sexton’s character and willingness to be more of a team player.

What would you consider offering Cleveland?

Would you offer them the same type of deal we got for Jrue? Matching salary, 3 far out firsts, and 2 swaps?

I think that’s about what it would take.

I'd offer nowhere near that.

He's many levels below Jrue.

Not necessarily. If they were told the pelicans were having a media availability tomorrow and to keep it secret until they make an announcement then I think they'd know something is about to go down and it's in their best interest to not publicize that just yet

I hear ya but then why tell them at all and risk it getting out instead of waiting a day to tell them?

I see no benefit to that but there is a risk so it doesn't seem to make sense. It's just weird all around.

Man that is super debatable.

1) Sexton at age 21/22 had a much better offensive season than Jrue has ever had

2) Sexton has 1 more year of rookie scale and even a max extension would leave him making less than Jrue annually

3) Sexton is 22 and ascending and Jrue is 30 and descending

4) Jrue is much better defensively but that is not how games are won anymore

It would take a Jrue package or more imo and I would consider it.

Replace Jrue with Sexton tonight for the Bucks and they win handily

Polk and Kush just released their podcast and Kushner tweeted it out with the eyes emoji. He did say flat out he doesn't know but if something were going to happen with Stan he'd expect it to be now, before the lottery. They also said that more people in the building aren't fans of Stan than are, and Griff is one of those people that's not a fan.

It definitely feels like someone learned a press conference is happening tomorrow and the timing is leading to certain assumptions.

Listening to Scott Kushner's podcast and they mentioned Griffin isn't a fan of SVG either.

Why is he here then!!?!? The guy who hired him doesn't even like him.

Maybe I gave Griffin too much benefit of the doubt when he got the job, and just thought some of the moves he made that I didn't like(ex. Steven Adams trade) were just philosophical differences. e.g. I didn't understand the fascination with a declining 90s era center. He also apparently didn't know this team needed shooters around Zion.

But, the more time that passes, the more I wonder if he knows WTF he's doing.

They got a big endorsement from the vet they brought in to mold the kids saying this coach will be good. You know, the guy that asked to be traded right after Stan was hired.

He thought JJ was going to work out. I don't think anyone expected JJ to fall off like he did.

Griff's corporate buzzword for this season was "Maximum Optionality". He wasn't sure what direction he wanted to go. I do think we got some answers this season that will give Griff some direction. Just look at these playoffs for example, they seem to indicate that the offense is so far ahead of the defense that focusing so heavily on the defense is a mistake. Which is one more reason to change coaches.

A career year out of JJ still wouldn't have been enough shooting for this team, so JJ falling off shouldn't be an excuse.

I'm watching teams with 40% three point shooters that aren't even in their rotations. One guy is far from enough.

Fortunately, I don't actually think shooters are hard to find(IF GRIFF BOTHERS LOOKING). There's almost an unlimited supply of guys that can stand in a spot and pump 3s at a decent percentage. Im not in favor of giving up real assets for shooters, for this reason. They're everywhere. Griffin just didn't bother bringing any in.
