if he's getting fired, i would imagine it would be before the draft lottery, which is in like a month.

Why? Winning the lottery is one of the few things that can shift the heat from Demps and back to increasing ticket sales. I think that's a shitty reason for him to keep his job, but I doubt they WANT to fire Demps since they fired the popular coach to keep him.

i just feel like basing a firing on where you land in the lottery is just terrible practice. if they do that, i'll probably lose whatever little optimism i had left. it seems desperate. firing him now or at least before the lottery gives the new GM time to get in and acclimate before workouts begin.

You answered your own question.

Just because I think that's a shitty reason and you think that's a shitty reason doesn't mean they think that's a shitty reason. Things have gotten so bad that Dumars/Hammond sounds delightful.

Yeah, as long as Loomis is involved, stupid shite will continue to happen. He and Dell are kindred fools.

Popular with who? Can't think of anyone who wanted Monty this time last year.

Players. Firing Demps right after you choose him over Monty makes it look like your NFL GM doesn't know WTF he's doing running an NBA team. Now if Loomis falls on the sword and steps aside to make way for a real NBA POBO, then it looks like maybe you've put the dumpster fire out and chosen a direction. But the last reports we had about the FO from the early spring were that Loomis was scaling back his involvement with the Saints and going to be doing more with the Pels. Is Loomis ready to just count beans?

We're no better than the Kings when it comes to management. Benson is a senile ole dumbass that doesn't know how to manage a team anymore

Things Jester was right about in the face of near-universal opposition:

Oden was not getting more than the minimum

Aminu was a decent NBA player forced into a role he was ill-suited for.

Monty > Derps

You do realize the Pelicans will not make ANY moves until the NFL Draft is over? The last thing Loomis wants to do is take questions regarding the Pelicans future during NFL Draft week.

Demps isn't getting fired anyway. I talked to him before the season ended. He's staying

I don't think he's getting fired but he needs to. He's so committed to making this team and this core work that he refuse to move on from it.

I was a strong advocate for Monty. Can't say the same for Gentry...

I actually supported Monty getting fired and was one of the first people to call for it during last season. I have no contacts with Monty

I talked to Lauscha after the season ended and he said they would evaluate everyone.
