I think they have another day and a half, if the deal was signed at Midnight on Thursday.

Mavs didn't send the Parsons offer to Houston until around 3PM eastern yesterday, so they have until that time Sunday. Morey likely feigned interest in S&T to delay the whole thing.

Is that how it works or does the clock start when FA starts which would be 12:01am Friday?

I can't believe I wasted my time turning to sportscenter for the Lin trade news. They mentioned it then went back to reading tweets about Lebron

You may be right. I'm just going by rotoworld's timeline that had the S&T talks still going on at 1:07PM and finished at 3:05PM(they're fairly fast to update).

I'm confused at the whole Austin Rivers thing... you guys wouldn't want to give up Austin Rivers for Asik?

the frick did they send it by? USPS? you could literally drive from houston to dallas and hand deliver it before day break if he signed it at some club around midnight.

I dont' necessarily mind trading Rivers for assets, even if it is a heavily conditional 2nd.

I hate the idea of taking a 3 year cap hit to cut him instead.

I'd rather not give him up for nothing if we don't have to

Depends on whether we'd already picked up next year's option.

If we didn't, then it is about $800K a year for 3 years, or the cost of a rookie player each season.

If we did, it's closer to about $1m a year or so for 5 years.

I don't like dead money unless it is for a VERY good reason.

there is no way we can't trade this dude for a second. i don't care if it's the last pick.

eta: although if it is the last pick, we'd be trading ourselves since we winning the ship
