@Probballdraft: Cavs not eliminated but whatever the purpose of leaking that makes it seem like LeBron is looking for way out of committing to the Cavs.

The initial reaction to it certainly doesn't bode well for the Cavs IMO
If it was a request for a public apology their response should have been "Dan has a press conference scheduled in 2 hours."

Told reports of Dan Gilbert's old letter to LeBron has never been relayed to Cavs as possible sticking point. So reports are news to them.

Exactly. Best case scenario for us is LeBron and Bosh stay, Houston matches Parsons and becomes the new Clippers, essentially locked into a roster that's not quite good enough with only the MLE to improve it, and Dallas signs someone old like Deng to ensure they have to completely rebuild once Dirk is done.

If all it took was an apology then Gilbert would walk out of the Cavs offices immediately and beg forgiveness in front of every film crew in the world.

Somewhere, The Isaiah Thomas Red Carpet made Eric Gordon shed a few tears. How could they possibly do that for another player?

think a Sac blogger saying they brought in DC to start and are paying him $5 million, so they won't pay Thomas $8 million and neither will anyone else.
Oh I get that. It just makes no sense. Thomas is a legit offensive weapon. One of the best PnR players in the league. He's small, but Collison is 6'0" 160 lbs. It ain't that much of a difference.
Collison and Vasquez have just as many, if not more, warts as Thomas and don't offer nearly as much to offset them. His career numbers stack up pretty well w/ some excellent players.

I think it's off too, maybe Mike Malone is looking at DC with rose colored glasses from his rookie year. Compared to MT5, DTDB, David West and Darius Songaila, Darren Collison is a defensive beast.

Ran across this report this morning about a memo the league sent out clarifying trade rules. It's a bit high brow/eyes glaze over type of thing so right up your alley

Bullet points for the tl:dr crowd,
- You can only trade picks and cash for coaches, not players or draft rights, and you can't have any side deals with that same team for players or draft rights.
- You're not supposed to trade pretend draft rights to Eurostashes that are never coming over, if that's all you have you need to pony up $75k instead.

can we talk for a bit about how popcorn worthy the MSB will be this afternoon after the remix to decision?

Full meltdown. All LBJ needed to leak was Miami is the clear favorite early on. From there, any decision he makes is fine. BTW, as much as people say it's not LBJs problem, he can do what he wants. It is LBJ's problem. He does not excel in being the villain.
I'm just hoping that Nerdragebert writes another letter. Would be moronically comical.

I think it's been pretty entertaining so far. I think if he stays in Miami the Cavs fans might be a little too numb to melt down.

Ban bets happened, too. That mat quiet it down a bit.

The way it's been built up, though, you'll see more pictures of people who had yet to burn their jerseys doing it. Maybe an effigy or two. That would be sweet.

Can't wait for ESPN to air "The Apology."

3 teams I could see being interested in a S&T for Aminu/Smith that don't have cap room & have trade exceptions: Grizzlies, Raptors, Wizards.
How big of a deal was the cap being $63.1 rather than $63.2 million? Aminu to the Grizzlies for their $3.1 million trade exception falls $50,000 short of working to complete the Asik trade now
They have had interest in Roberts too and do have 2 smaller $1.1 million trade exceptions, so Roberts and Aminu to Memphis and Ely and Babbit to Houston for Asik would work. Is Aminu an adequate replacement for Ed Davis as a backup PF? I found it a bit odd that Memphis renounced rights to him after it looked like they were considering dumping guys like Koufos to make room to keep him. Basically for the same price or maybe less than the price of keeping Ed Davis, you get Aminu and Roberts, and Memphis was trying to trade for a backup PG at the deadline last year.

whelp that sucks. can EG take a 50k pay cut? or like…a 5 mil pay cut?
also, how awful are the Lakers going to be this upcoming season? they may do worse than last year, even if Kobe is back and healthy

I saw that. I have a tab open for it, but not quite ready to dive in- my eyes were glazing over as I started to read it
