It's tough for me to say who they will be better with, but I do think Bosh will be better, or at least more efficent, in Houston than he was in Miami.

Jazz renounced Richard Jefferson and Brandon Rush. Hornets renounced Pargo, Tolliver, White, Ridnour, McRoberts and Douglas-Roberts.

@McNamara247 - I'm not a fan of dumping Rivers...if that's on the table. Asik for next years 1st & in essence Rivers is steep. Still need SF
Michael McNamara ?@McNamara247 29m
@FletcherMackel I know this isn't gonna happen. But let's just wait until Sunday. Then we can analyze it for the next 3 months.
Is MM saying he knows that Fletcher waiting isn't going to happen or that Rivers getting dumped isn't going to happen? Remember earlier MM seemed to imply he knew the trade was already set up but lacked details.
Also, Ocean Man = Fletch alter, or is Fletch stealing his material?

McBob being renounced is a no-brainer for Charlotte given that he's going to Miami.
Utah renouncing Rush and Jefferson may help us since they could be cheap alternatives at the 3.

mcnamara has been pretty insistent that he already knows what the plan is, and that its a done deal. whether it involves rivers or not he hasnt really said

Much better head of hair than me.
But in all honesty, I'm surprised more people aren't on board with me. Its almost like we developed a rationale with the jrue deal, and are just recycling it. We have all heard the "bird in the hand.." Logic during that deal, which is still a mystery whether it was a good move due to injuries and likely will remain that way due to unknowns. I don't think you just say we need a center and lose all assets and wiggle room to get one, especially when you are dealing with a team going after its 3rd max player.
Rivers will get better, and will be in the league 10+ years. Kid has a competitive edge that doesn't show up in metrics or stats. He is turning the corner from previously being an overwhelmed kid to looking like he played with some real confidence at the end of the season.
Plus, he is on a cheap deal and is still developing and hungry. Outside of him, we have no one else like that on our roster. We are starting to look like a team playing catch up than one poising to be a contender in 2-3 years.
I mean seriously, if we do the Asik deal and he signs elsewhere next year, we are no better the following season and are left chasing a big target.
Teams that win are just that; teams. It involves a common core, not just trying to put together a roster year after year.

This Asik deal, if it costs us rivers and all of our cap room, is a bad move. It gives us nothing for the future and is further handcuffing us. I don't agree with this strategy of backing ourselves in a hole to have a legitimate roster with no young (1st contract) talent and no first round picks for 2 years.
We do get his bird rights in the deal so we can get assets if he bails. If he signs a 3 year/27 Mil dollar contract next year with us(I know it's a random number) it's a very good deal for a 16th+ pick and maybe or maybe not rivers. He just made 28 and really doesn't have much tread on the tires.
When EGs gone they'll have 15 mil in space(though a good chunk of that will go to ADs max later). I also wouldn't be surprised if anderson is traded for a pick or something.

Listening to Stan Van Gundy on Lebatard and he's basically slamming Morey/the Morey-types and the the sports writers who fawn over them like Beiber fans, immediately declaring them "winners" of every deal they make, all while having won nothing.

That would be a huge misstep, and I can't say that I'm 100% certain he'll resign. We can offer him the most money and a good role, so the odds are in our favor, but despite starting, he probably won't be finishing most games and he has pouted about his role before.
Demps is trading uncertainty for certainty, the future for the present. There is a real cost to that, especially if you make mistakes. But just because there is a cost to it, doesn't mean you can't use that method to build a winner. The Asik trade is either going to save Demps' job or be the straw the broke the camel's back if it goes wrong. I really don't think there's much middle ground with this move short of a catastrophic injury.

I will (somewhat) agree with you on a couple of things.
Going into the offseason, SF was clearly the biggest need. While I like the Asik deal, it kind of sucks that we gave up one of our last few valuable assets to make it happen. At the same time, you can't make something available, that isn't. Asik was available for a protected 1st rounder, and who knows if any quality SFs were. We could still sign someone like Richard Jefferson or Jordan Hamilton this offseason, and if Gordon opts out next, use his salary on a long term solution at SF, and all of this will be moot.
The Asik deal, IMO, is either going to be an A or a F move, depending on his he re-signs. If he re-signs, then that's great. I'd take Asik, long term over almost any 1st rounder picks from 4-19. If he doesn't re-sign, then the deal becomes a huge failure, and I wouldn't be surprised if it led to the end of Dell's job.
ETA: TIA pretty much said the same thing right above me.

SMH...
Next season is gonna be Thornton all over again. We get 8 new topics started every time Rivers makes a layup, if we let him go.

A center of Asiks caliber and skillset is excatly what they need. Who wants to suffer another season with steimsma-caliber centers?
HOU isn't getting LBJ or Melo and if the former stays they don't get bosh either.

I can agree with this.

Why?
How many guys on this roster are 25 and under? What makes you think they aren't hungry?
AD will probably be a top 5 player by next year. That alone can make you a contender.

A sign and trade would happen if it came to that.

The core is Jrue/Tyreke/AD right now.
EG isn't in the teams future.
Ryno is a bit up in the air.
Give them time to play together(which didn't happen last year due to injuries) and we'll see.

pretty funny that during his rookie season everyone wanted him gone. he was a bust. now nobody wants to trade him

Austin Rivers may be a bust but he is our BUST!
