Woj crushing my dreams before they can begin to percolate.

If we signed Daniels we would still have the MLE left so we would be able to get a miles. I'd be happy with a Daniels/Miles off-season while keeping our firsts going forward. It's unspectacular but it leaves us with flexibility

Indiana has emerged as a frontrunner to sign Bojan Bogdanovic, league sources tell ESPN.
Of course they are.
He's a UFA for 5 minutes and already someone is one him.
It really, really, really sucks being capstrapped and in danger of being hard-capped.
I'm really starting to lose some faith that we will make any moves that even remotely move the needle.

We don't even have the full MLE to spend. They'll be lucky if they can manage to get Miles with the taxpayer MLE.

He signed with Indy for 2/$21m...just like that our hopes were dashed...

Why don't we have the full MLE?
Posted on 7/7/17 at 1:49 pm to TigerinATL
God Damnit, frick Everything.
This offseason has been like watching paint dry as a Pels fan.
The Boogie deal was huge and if it would have taken place last week, we'd all be jacked but....
Resigning Jrue was fine but then taking MM's bait on potential moves, have left us all with blue balls......end rant....

If Lin is the top target it's possible Brooklyn tying up it's cap space on Porter is screwing us too. You have to get that deal done and know who's coming off your books before you spend your money.

Well we do.
HOWEVER. We are in danger of going into the luxury tax and would be hardcapped if we signed someone with the full MLE and went into the Lux Tax. So basically, they are treating it like the Tax Payers MLE even though we are not officially Tax Payers.
We need to shed salary in order to be fully safe and flexible.
That's my understanding.

Indy will be sneaky good (in the East)
Collison / Young
Oladipo / Lance
Bogdanovic / Robinson
Young / Sabonis / Leaf
Turner / Jefferson
Not a contender but should be a low seed in the East I would think

Ok I gotcha. So from my understanding we're at ~$105 without Donte, and if we give him around 5-6 we'd be 8-9 mil away from the tax and wouldn't be able to use the full MLE and BAE without dumping a contract. Is that correct?
Posted on 7/7/17 at 1:59 pm to BallHawk
That might be the 5th best team in the east hahaha

We do, but if we use the full MLE you become hard-capped and aren't allowed to go above the tax Apron for any reasons. It potentially blocks you from making uneven trades during the season.

I have us at $110 without Dante. I think people are forgetting Toupane, Cook and Jackson are on the roster. I've never thought Toupane would be on the opening day roster, but if they cut him Darius Miller is probably taking his salary slot.

Best case for the Pels is Washington matching Porter, so that can open Brooklyn to signing KCP, which means their backcourt will be D'Lo and KCP, thus making Lin expendable.
ETA: I just wish they'd hurry and do it already, but it seems like they are intent on being assholes.
ETA2: D'Lo and KCP is a low-key decent part of a rebuilding process for Brooklyn if it falls that way.
