Why Rose? not like the Kings care, and they don't want to win. I see they need it to get the salaries to match up closer, but Rose over Calderon? Cleveland would rather have Calderon than Rose for the playoffs?

There's no way we give up a first, the Kings are trying to dump long-term contracts. 3 deals with 3 years remaining for Ajinca's 1 1/2 year deal seems fair enough.

They are all minimum contracts, and better than minimum contracts b/c two of them are first round picks on rookie deals, so they actually hold some value. That's not how you dump contracts, dumping rookie deals for nothing. But the Kings are morons so there's that.

I live in Ohio, no one wants Rose on the team anymore. He quit on the team earlier in the year over a bone spur in his ankle. Wade runs the second unit, you don't want both of your backup guards to be ball-dominant, shitty 3-point shooters.

rose is on a minimum and he's hurt/a head case
no way he plays a minute for the kings

he's either salary throw in or the cavs just want him gone.
kings can just cut him loose

I still don't understand the need for the kings to move anyone else. they'll buy out frye and be fine

Would we have any money to offer Frye as a buyout?

we do not have a roster spot, but we have DPE worth ~2,5 millions. so we may take a player into DPE

but using it - we will go into tax

so if we are going to sign anybody additional (will it be minimum deal for the rest of the season or something other) - we need to clear more salary than we are receiving

right now Liggins is signed into injury exception

so it won't be hard to clear a spot

but Dell has bigger plans. will it be a trade using pick, salary dump, exchange of bad contract

I don't except anything big.
but I expect that our pick is still available (sorry Crewz)

pretty much, he's gonna sit and wait when teams really start feeling the pressure to make a move.

One right now, this early, is purely desperate (Cleveland) to stay in contention and get more playing time together.

Pels can be third party involved.

For sure Dell would like to make a type Cole/Pondexter move.

FWIW - Pels have FOUR exceptions

DPE of Ajinca $2.48 millions
Trade exceptions- $3.853 millions (QPon), $ 3.517 millions (Buddy), $2.09 millions (Frazier).

Buddy's will expire soon, Frazier around draft, Q next season

Those exceptions are to be used to trade for a player without giving a player back. That's impossible for us b/c we aren't going into the tax this year, and we can't clear cap space b/c no one is taking Ajinca for nothing, and we have no other useable assets anyone would want.

Cutting Tony Allen doesn't clear cap space. Everyones salary is locked in now. You can cut him, sure, but all that does is create a roster spot.

If we add a player without a trade, we will go into the tax, and that ain't happening. the only way we can add a player is by trading Ajinca/Diallo, and we aren't trading Asik unless it's for an expiring contract like Joe Johnson and that ain't happening b/c we aren't a title contender and that would be a waste of a 1st round pick just to rent Joe for a year and have some cap relief from the tax next year, when we can have that simply by stretching Asik. We cannot trade Asik for someone with years remaining on their deal. It's just not possible to stay under the tax next year if we do that.
Any trade we make will involve Ajinca, Diallo, or one of the 1 year minimum salary guys, and if it involves Ajinca, then it will be to get back a player while saving salary. If by some miracle they have their 1st round pick after that trade, then they could possibly use one of these exceptions, but as i said, i think it's dumb for us to use a 1st round pick to rent a player for a year. We won't be able to resign them b/c we'd go into the tax, and we aren't a title contender, so it makes zero sense at this time.

Sam Amick on Utah: “Listen, my understanding of Utah’s situation is that they’re as much of an open shop as there is in the league right now. Whether it’s Derrick Favors or Rodney Hood or even Ricky Rubio, they want to turn the page. They want to maximize Rudy Gobert’s prime. … Utah is going to look at everything right now. They obviously don’t feel like they have their core and they’re trying to figure things out. But yeah, I think Rodney gets moved. I think Derrick will draw decent interest. And the Rubio one, I didn’t know what to make of it. But if they are truly open to parting ways with Ricky, I think he’d have a good market too.” – via audioBoom

Pawel aren’t you the one that said Asiks days are numbered? I’m preparing for Asik to get stretched bc I cannot see a scenario where anyone takes his contract. Have you heard otherwise?

Agree that those exceptions will send us to the tax.
But we have four of them which gives us possibilities. If not now- maybe in the future.
But usually exceptions become unused. So I dont expect much.

But you can make a deal and send 12 millions and receive 10. Add to this 1 million left below tax and You can sign QPon-type contract using exception with sweetener or not.

There are possibilities.
Dell is calling all the time.

Just wait.
He is good in small moves.

You dont need to have inside info to understand that the way this team is constructed - Asik cannot be a Pelican after July 1st.

So salary dump this season or around moratorium in July.
Or stretching. There is no other way.

The way his deal is constructed he might be kinda asset after next season.
But unless Pels are unwiling to pay tax and are going to pay max to Boogie - Asik is gone.

It would be awesome to get any of those guys from Utah, but we can't afford it. We can't resign Hood, so unless they want a 2019 second round pick for him, it ain't happening.

We already have a cheaper better Burks in Moore, so that ain't happening.

We aren't taking Rubio's contract. That would require Moore or Solo to get traded, same for Burks.

Sefolosha would have been a nice get, but he's done for the season.

Joe Johnson wouldn't be a terrible get if we can unload Asik for him, but i just don't think giving up a 1st to do that is smart this year.

The most ideal players for us if we were to trade with Utah would be Jerebko, Udoh and Hood.
Not giving up a 1st for a half year rental of Hood, but maybe that rental plus one of either Jerebko or Udoh, who both have a year left on their deals might be ok.
Ajinca/Diallo protected 1st for Hood/Jerebko, or Ajinca/Diallo 2019 2nd for Hood/Udoh? Get Hood for this year, Udoh or Jerebko instead of Diallo next year. Not sure that's worth throwing away the first for though.
