Kings looking to unload a couple players to make this happen, I’m told. Kings at 15 players on the roster

No idea how we got to the point where bad teams so willingly help elite teams get better. Not only are they handing Cleveland George Hill, they're looking to dump other guys to do it.

So did SAC sign Hill with the plans of trading him for expiring this year? I never understood that roster they made this year.

This isn't Sacramento helping Cleveland, they're trying to help themselves. Yet another thing they thought would work out is bursting into flames and needing to be put out. In theory Hill was going to be a good fit as a veteran mentor so they signed him to a lot of money for 3 years. Now he wants out and with as much money as they signed him for they're just looking to get out of the contract.

The official stance was "veteran leadership," I believe.

However, I don't think most people thought Hill would finish that contract in Sacramento. I just don't think Shumpert, Frye, and roster dumps are exactly quality return. It makes the initial signing worthless.

It does, but I don't think they expected him to demand a trade 2 months into the season.

Cleveland understands they need to get something done now. It makes so much more sense to get someone in early and get them as many games to integrate before the playoffs as possible instead of doggedly waiting until just before the deadline.

Shumpert has a player option after this year. It's been assumed he'd opt out, but i think he'd be stupid to.
He'll be lucky to make $10M over the next 4 years if he opts out. He's not getting a contract any where near that much annually in the near future with the way he's playing.

If they were to trade for George Hill, i would think that means the Cavs are going to send out IT as well b/c they wouldn't resign him.

I think it means they want to get it done quickly so they can get a trade done for IT after.

The Kings will extract some sort of draft comepsation if they go ahead with the proposed trade of George Hill to Cleveland for Iman Shumpert and Channing Frye, according to league sources

Cavs have no 2nd this year so I guess they'd be doing this for the Cleveland 1st.

I thought you couldn't have trades out for consecutive picks? Cleveland is trading their 2019 pick to Atlanta. Doesn't that mean they cannot trade their 2018 pick, until they make the pick?

wasn't that something put in place b/c of how stupid Brooklyn was with the Boston trade?

They still have the Brooklyn pick this year so they can move their own. You just need A 1st, not YOUR 1st.

Sacramento has to clear a roster spot to take on one or two additional players in a deal with Cleveland, and has been discussing deals for young forwards Malachi Richardson and Skal Labissiere to clear roster spots, league sources said. – via ESPN

ESPN Cleveland: Windhorst: I do think the George Hill trade will happen. I think Derrick Rose may be involved in this one, as well as Frye and Shump. #Cavs – via Twitter ESPNCleveland

Not sure what's so nice about it. I'm sure we'd have to give up a first for it, and those players aren't worth that, and we are the ones with too many players. We'd have to cut people, not that it would be an issue.

There's no way we give up a first, the Kings are trying to dump long-term contracts. 3 deals with 3 years remaining for Ajinca's 1 1/2 year deal seems fair enough.

Dump Liggins, maybe Nelson in this scenario.
