Smart and Green? Now that I can flap to. Smart is an RFA this off-season though right? I guess that may be the only deterrent since idk if we could/would resign him.

ETA: after looking at the advance stats I think I'd rather Tyreke over Smart. I have a feeling neither would be back next year either way.

I kind of lean towards Green. He’s more balanced, kind of a blue collar big like I think they need. But Mirotic can really score so it’s not like he’s a bad option. He doesn’t help the team weaknesses, but he strengthens the team strength.

Mirotic can score from anywhere on the court. He can pass it and has deep range. This dude is greatly talented offensively.

This ain’t the same Mirotic from years past. He’s 26, coming into his own in his prime after adding 20 pounds in the offseason.

With Boogie, no way would you want him on the roster paying him $13M to play 15 minutes. But with a chance to play 30+ minutes, he’d fit in great offensively.

From KC Johnson:
Nikola Mirotic averaged 25 points and 8.7 rebounds in 3 starts and Bulls went 3-0 when Markkanen sat with back issue in December. Bulls starting Zipser for Markkanen vs. Trail Blazers.

I feel like Mirotic would play way more than 15 minutes even with a health boogie.

Well I doubt you're playing Boogie for 36 mins per game next year, especially early on. There will be minutes to be had. Having a guy like Miro allows you to be able to bring Boogie back slowly and still have a guy out there who can fill it up, even if he does it on a different way.

Greg Monroe bought out. Do we want him? And would he come back?

Brook Lopez may be ready to leave Los Angeles.

Brook Lopez waved off reporters postgame. He played 9 minutes tonight, including 1:33 in the 2nd half. During the 4th he looked upset, covered his head with a towel, rubbed his eyes with it, and got up and walked off the court at the next time out, returning shortly thereafter.

This feels like a situation headed for a buyout, if not before then certainly after next week’s trade deadline. Lopez could help a contender as a floor-spacing big and scorer.

Dell almost gave up a similar package for Lopez as he offered for Dwight. Would be funny if he got him for free now

Give me Smart every day of the week. Dude plays elite defense and has an attitude in the court. An attitude that is much needed on this Pelicans team. Advanced stats don’t tell you that

Sign Monroe, trade Asik/Frenchy/1st for Green/Reke.

Doesn't that make us competitive this year and still keep us flexible?

It would because Green would be the only guy under contract next year and at about 7 mil less than the Asik/Ajinca combo

I do like the Green/Tyreke combo, but the more I think about it the more I like the idea of having Mirotic next year to be able to ease Boogie back into the lineup. I think that could be huge.

Getting rid of Asik, Ajinca, some other useless guys.

Bringing in Monroe of Loopez with Evans and Green. Pels would be somewhat dangerous again.

Or we maintain the course for Asik/Ajinca/1st/2nd for Mirotic/Grant and then grab Monroe

Solo comes back and we are much better off. I’m just realizing that after we trade Ajinca and Solo comes back, we lose the injury exception. So idk if Grant can be part of the trade

Also I wonder if Dallas would give us Nerlens Noel for like Cunningham & Allen or better yet buy him out. It’s not a good situation there

You can use Miro in both the 4/5 ideally he’d be able to help both of our big men get off the floor. He’d be worth that for our back up PF to not be Dante or diallo

I'd rather Green over Mirotic.
I understand people are looking at the present, but with Cousins back, we don't need more offense. I'd rather Green's defense and athleticism.
