1. Traded a 1st for Asik.
I"m a known Asik hater, but there was nothing wrong with trading that pick for him. Asik just got Pelicanned after signing and the player we got was nothing like the player in Houston or in Chicago b/c of injuries.
Now resigning him to that stupid contract, i've got no arguments for that.

Asik can't score 10 points in a gym by himself.

Houston Asik is what we needed at the time, thanks to trading RoLo

Asik was a good player with Monty Williams. He just sucks in Gentry's system.

well they didn't trade for him to score points.
Anyone saying that trade was terrible, is only saying so b/c of the present. The idea behind bringing him in wasn't bad at all.
Also, that first round pick we gave up for him, was protected. It only went to Houston if it fell inbetween 4-19. We finished at 18. We had 45 wins. 45 wins last year would give us the 21st pick. in that scenario, we keep that pick.

As trade discussions involving Memphis Grizzlies guard Tyreke Evans intensify, front office plans to sit him out until a deal is completed, league sources tell ESPN. He'll start sitting vs. Pacers tonight. Trade deadline is next Thursday.

From Sporting News:
They also say we have discussed a 3 way with ATL and LAL perhaps involving Bazemore. Not sure what the Lakers component would be. Clarkson? Randle?

— Going into the week, Pistons president of basketball operations and head coach Stan Van Gundy and Pelicans general manager Dell Demps were described in the same way: Desperate.
Meanwhile, two personnel men who looked at the potential Mirotic deal to New Orleans had the same thought: If it goes through, the Bulls won’t be getting enough for Mirotic, who had drawn the interest of Detroit, Utah, Portland and New York in recent weeks. He’s not Cousins, who made the All-Star team with some monster offensive games. But his long-distance shooting (42.9 percent from 3-point range this season) will be greatly appreciated by Anthony Davis.
"Dell needs to do something and he knows it," one Eastern Conference GM told Sporting News. "The Pelicans could be getting a new GM. So he’s as desperate to make a deal as Stan was."

Bazemore makes no sense for the Pels or Lakers because of his salary. The only thing close to making sense is the Pels sending out Asik/Ajinca/Moore/1st and getting back Bazemore and Randle and thinking that justifies becoming a tax team.

Bazemore is just a $10M more Moore. Absolutely do not want.
Posted on 1/31/18 at 7:05 pm to TeddyPadillac
Hopefully this is just another iron in the fire to leverage the team with the thing he really wants.

I havne't been able to follow much today, but i saw something about getting O'Quinn from NYK. That's someone i've been wanting to get. He's exactly what we needed behind AD and Cousins, and would bring much needed energy to the current team.

I think that was just a MM hypothetical on what a secondary trade for a guard could look like. I think it was Diallo and expirings for Jarrett Jack and O'Quinn.

The only trade that makes sense giving up a 1st for Tyreke involves us also getting Jaymichael Green back. He makes $7.5 next year and would be a decent 3rd big. I've also seen variations where it's a 3 way with Boston and the Celtics get Tyreke while we get Marcus Smart and Green.

yes please.
Do you prefer Mirotic (wth him on the team next year as well), or having Tyreke/Green?
