It takes 2 to tango.

Looks like Asik is staying...I doubt a S&T will happen

so lets say this idiot gets $9 million, hopefully not more.

After next summer we will have:
Jrue $11
Reke $10
AD $25
QPon $3
Ajinca $5
Asik $9
That's $63 million in salaries going into next summer
And i'll guess maybe $8 million more in MLE/Cole whatver, if they are more than 1 year deals.
so we are at $71 in salaries next year, with a cap of $90 million next year.
Not enough to sign KD.
We will have $19 million and will be in desperate need of a starting SG and SF and backup PF.

Jrue and Reke will be on "cheap" expiring contracts. They would be easy to dump if we thought we had a shot at a big name like KD.

If KD says he's coming you can easily move salary just like the Spurs did with Splitter. Outside of Jrue with his injury and maybe Asik, I don't see a player on your list that some team wouldn't take for free, especially in a year where there is an injection of 40% more cap space out of nowhere.

MLE will likely get us SF who would start

Could conceivably dump Reke for a pick

Trading ryno at the deadline could get us a wing too

getting KD is an extreme long shot.
How are we going to fill our huge holes at SG and SF with $19 million? not to mention getting a backup PF when Ryno leaves.

I'm not so sure Gordon is gone long term, although seeing the contracts we're seeing make me shudder to think what his next deal could look like. I know you want a stud SF, but we may have to settle for a 2nd QPon type if we can't land a star like KD. And I'm with you on just giving 1 year to Asik to keep our flexibility, especially since we gave $5 a year to Ajinca.

Reke isn't exactly a scrub. I don't know how it worked last season but I remember that the 13/14 Jrue + Reke backcourt had some REALLY good metrics. Even with the new cap, $19m should be enough to land another solid wing + backup big. Plus we're going to add a capable backup with the MLE, which you counted in your salary cap estimation but forgot about/ignored in your list of needs.

I don't believe him as of late with some of the recent tweets he had regarding the Pelicans.

Jrue will probably play the "SG" role tbh.

Hopefully we can see how that works out this year and make decisions from there.

I agree. assuming we get a solid wing this year with the MLE

I realize i left that out the needs.

Regardless, we are going to have to go after a stud 2 or 3 next year most likely if we want to get to the next level.

What does the cap hold for Ryno mean?

That's a standard 150% cap hold that remains in place until you renounce your rights to him or give him a new deal. Asik's got about a $12.5 million cap hold on the books right now until we do something with him.

Reke at 10.2 could be moved in a New York second if needed to sign a max guy. Cap flexibility. Hallelujah.

ETA: What could we offer KD next year? Just humor me...

We better on sign asik to a one year deal or at most a 2 year team option or just cut him

This. Really don't want to give him a contact like the Suns just gave Chandler (4/52). I don't see him as a fit with what we're trying to do on offense.

We'll make room for Kevin Durant if he wants to come here. No need worrying about what the money looks like now.

There's very little chance of KD coming to NO. BUT . . . if he did I'd sell some of my personal belongings and get floor seats to watch AD and KD.
