"Off the radar" could be us packaging some picks for a top 5 pick in the draft if our scouting department is sold on someone being a stud. We were willing to move some of our assets to trade up for PatWill, and as much as I love PW, the #4 pick this year probably has a higher ceiling than him.

I’m not so sure we need another “star” player to make this team a contender

What we really need is good role players. I'm thinking about guys in the tier of: Gary Trent Jr, Dario Saric, Dorian Finney-Smith, Kyle Anderson, etc.

Zion is only at the scratching the surface of what he can do as a point forward. He and BI will only continue to grow offensively. I think both can carry the load as long as we surround them with excellent defenders and guys that can shoot.

But I still think we need someone other than BI to be able to create their own shot, handle the point at times and also be able to knock down shots. Rotating that responsibility between BI, Zion and a third guy makes us more versatile. Maybe not a star but certainly someone close to being one that can take over if needed.

The other two guys simply need to be an athletic, versatile rim protector (which we have in Hayes) and a 3 and D wing. The 3 and D wing is probably the most important component to long term success during Zion’s era. We have to bolster the defense and we absolutely have to have someone that can knock open looks. Having 3 different guys who can consistently hit a 3 is going to be just as important as wings who can defend.

A guy like Davion Mitchell would be the most realistic and we have the ammo to move up and get him. Anunoby would fit great here and if you get Mitchell, you’d be more OK giving up Lonzo in a trade for him. If you want Hayes coming off the bench then Sabonis is our best bet.

I’m not sure Sabonis would be as great of a guy to play with Zion. He’s really not that great of n outside shooter and that’s what you’d like from a big man with Zion. Last year he shot 25% from 3 and this year he’s 29%.

I agree also I think if I young guys mature at a reasonable rate as they have we r in a good spot. Add a high percentage 3 point vet. and a defensive stopper.
With all these picks we could hopefully get lucky on a few cheap deals also. I like our future.

frick it, Steph Curry. If Klay comes back next year, they’re healthy all year & still lose in the 1st round, maybe they blow it up.

I mean, the Warriors have the highest salaries in the league, and because of the repeater tax, they are also paying an extra $147 million in luxury tax. That's insane, and their owner obviously is willing to pay that to contend for titles, but if the Warriors don't contend next year, then it's got to be the end of the Splash Bros.

I’ve seen a lot of MPJ on here which I would love.

But I don’t think anyone has explained a potential route for that happening like we have for some other guys mentioned.

What’s the play there? How does that conceivably happen? I have a hard time believing the Nuggs would let him get away and I am pretty sure their cap is set up in a way where they will be able to sign him to max or close by the time his deal comes up.

The first name I threw out there was Paul George which would be an absolutely perfect fit (although I know it’s unlikely and he’s near or over 30)

Pauls No Trade Clause expired a few days ago and like I said before if he plays horribly again in the playoffs, the clippers very well might try to move him for another star and maybe we could get him back in a 3 way trade or Ingram...

One more pie in the sky idea I have is Kristaps Porzingis. He’s another guy that would fit incredibly well as he both shoots 3 and blocks shots at a nice clip. Imagine a supersized lineup of the following.

Naw
Ingram
Zion
Hayes
Kristaps

or you could go a more traditional

Naw
Ingram
Hart
Zion
Kristaps

or you use Ingram to trade for Kristaps and additional assets.

Anyway, the reason why I mention Kristaps is that he is very clearly unhappy in Dallas. Luka and Kristaps on and off court chemistry is bad to the point when asked about it in a recent interview, Kristaps did not squash the rumors, but actually poured more gasoline on the fire.

I think Kristaps despises Luka a bit bc he feels marginalized and Luka doesn’t pass him the ball enough.

You know who would pass Kristaps the ball? Zion. They would be a great on court fit.

Just food for thought and we know Griff loves his Centers.

have a lot of confidence that Zion will(and to some degree already has)ascend to superstar status with enough gravity to pull in vet players that are looking to compete for a ring. I just don’t know if that is coming very soon.

getting into the 7 to 10 playin and advancing to 8 moves the attraction needle to NOW.

During the playoff series the chatter will be designing trades and FA chatter.
the tv guys will sell on the Pelicans.
win a couple.

unless there is winning no one wants it enough to ask their agent.

We bitch about this team not being clutch, but people want to add a guy that is 6/50 on game tying or go ahead fga in the 4th/OT...

The thread wasn’t framed necessarily as players we want as fans, but off the radar players that “could be our future trade target”. Both times I mentioned “Playoff P” as a reason why he would even be available...

Not like I started a thread saying trade for Paul George and/or Porzingis. We are all just responding to a hypothetical thread and trying to throw different names out there that could hypothetically be available and be a roster fit.

Weird enough I think we already have our third star on the roster and his initials are N-A-W. I think he has a breakout season next year, as a full-time starter next to Lonzo.

As far as players who are stars now, who could be available in a couple years, I think Bunch named the ideal guy. De'Aaron Fox has that clutch instinct that our other stars lack. He is a killer in the 4th quarter and that's what we need. He can only take the Kings so far on his own, and they may have drafted his replacement in Halliburton.

I think in a couple years they will start listening to offers for him, I just hope we still have our assets to deal at that point. I think the biggest mistake we could make as a franchise, is rushing the big trade for our third star.

Fox with that Poison Pill contract will be hard to pry away...along with anyone else who has a PP contract. If we were to do it, the Kings would almost undoubtedly force us to to take on or find alternate routes for Buddy and Barnes along with us giving up young players and draft capital.

The pp contract was only this season, his extension kicks in next year when you're able to trade again, so no pp.

Gotcha...doubtful he’s dealt this offseason though.
