IF the Pelicans end up getting a "healthy" Oden, and that's a big IF, they will be getting a once-in-a-lifetime player. Shaq-ish.

Who else would we sign with that $3M?

I don't really see the issue here. 2 years / 6M is not going to hurt flexibility very much and it's not gonna put a big dent in team salary

Exactly. Apparently people are concerned with Tom Benson's personal finances now.

Apparently people don't know what kind of players make 3mil per season. They aren't usually worth a crap unless they are still on their rookie deals. 3mil wouldn't sign an impact player, why not use that money to sign a player who has the possibility to be impactful. There's really no lose in this scenario.

Oden can be more like Mutumbo with a little more offensive skill and touch. Which would be outstanding.

Now, his upside is 15-20 minutes a game.

But that's all we are really looking for in a starting center. If he can give you a part time defensive force it's well worth the risk. Anyone else we get at this point is easily replaceable a la Roger Mason jr. Oden is the only pick up left who has the potential to be a long term contention piece.

Thank you!! Jester has been saying that crap for couple weeks now. Do you not understand that 3 mil to you and 3 mil to a NBA team is completely different!? Now go ahead and come back with some stupid joke jester.

Apparently people don't realize that $3 million dollars is better than the salary someone makes that is NOT working. For a guy coming off major knee problems, who 'retired,' who hasn't done shite on the professional level ever, 3 mil is pretty fricking good.

But 3 million dollar contract for a NBA player isn't bad at all

I had a dream the other night where I posted a thread title that read "Oden Signs with New Orleans" and another titled "Uniform Leaked". I was tempted to do it to piss the entire board off but I didn't want to get banned.

Okay, dumbass. Tom Benson has endless money and doesn't give a shite about $3M. Do you really think Tom Benson has told Loomis and Demps that they can spend as much of his money as they want?

What you tards seem to be ignoring is that Tom Benson's personal finances are the team finances. Why waste $3m on a broke dick?

Because there's a chance that he can propel the pelicans. Teams like the pelicans have to gamble on chances because we aren't attractive to big time FAs

A very, very small chance, in my opinion. There really is no way to know who will ultimately be right, though, until the contract is signed and he either contributes significantly to someone's success or doesn't.

Teams like the Pelicans need to be careful about wasting money because we don't have a huge market base or television deal.

Its a 2 year deal..with a team option on the 2nd year. It's not like the Pelicans are signing Peja and Posey all over again
