With the bucks losing 4 in a row and missing the finals and already having paid Bledsoe and gotta pay middleton and will either have to give Lopez a raise or replace him and have mirotic to make a decision on that I don’t think they pay 20 yearly for Brogdon and possibly pay luxury tax when this team didn’t win it all

Why? He’s a guard which we need with good length that can guard 3 positions at times and is part of the 50/40/90 club and can play on or off ball next to jrue offensively and defensively. Efficient, versatile defender who can spread the floor and give you 15 ppg. He’s like the Definition of what we need. And he’s 26

Bc I want a point guard that's a great scorer, good assist guy and plays good enough defense for 20 mil a year not a guy that averages 12 points/3 assist a game for 20 mil. If you can get him for 15 million a year that would be perfect

He is also very long so you would have two very big guards causing match up problems.

I hope we go after him.

The tax line is estimated to be at $132m, apron at $136m. It will be tight for them, but not impossible.

They can't pay Lopez that much because they don't have his Bird rights, but they need him back. George Hill is an expiring guaranteed for only $1m next year. Mirotic was awful v the Raptors. He isn't a player in Finals level games; not sure why anyone would want to give him ~$20m/year ahead of Brogdon. Plus they have Ilyasova at $7m to replace some of his production.

Lastly, they are motivated to do whatever it takes to keep Giannis, like the Pels were the last couple of years with Davis. Keeping Giannis, Middleton, Brogdon together seems like their best trio for a Finals appearance. That trio was +35 in 72 minutes v the Raptors.

Do you think they would invest into those 3 as their “big 3” that they would be putting 75+ mil into?

Brogdon score 15.5 this year next to 2 all stars. And for us You got jrue, Zion, and whatever comes in the Davis trade package to be the primary scoring options. He doesn’t need to be the first option. If he’s the 3rd or fourth option and is incredibly efficient and can be a low usage player while switchable on defense, that’s very precious in today’s nba and would fit like a dream on a team possibly consisting of jrue, Zion, Tatum

You’re looking too much at stats. He’s like the 5th option on his team because that’s his role so of course he doesn’t have a big stat line. He’s one of the better defenders in the game, is versatile, and matches perfectly with Jrue. He would be in line for a bigger role here and thus his numbers would improve. Look at fit and game. Not stats.

Which you are correct but I’d pay a couple million more a year if we think they will match our offer.

If that's the best option to get Giannis to sign his supermax, they should do it.

Think back to Holiday's free agency. Similar questions about paying him that much money at the time (he's been great, Pels not so much...for reasons not in his control). The Pels had to pay him because there was no way to find someone better and they had to do everything to try to convince Davis to stay

The thing is, they have to pay Middleton probably in the 25 mil per range also..

Next year with Giannis's supermax, they would have over 100 million tied up in 4 players (Giannis, Middleton, Bledsoe, Brogdon) if they signed him..

I think they let him walk, or at least try to get a s&t done for him

Maybe they don't do keep him. But it's tough.

They do have to get him to sign the deal.

The Pels and Pels fans were willing to max Boogie and supermax Davis so they would have had just a little less tied up in 3 players.

If NYC billionaires balk at paying to keep this core together, Giannis will not sign the extension.

they’ll re sign Middleton and brogdon and try again
it’s the only play

the risk is that this was MILs chance, everything was lined up and they had Lopez on the cheap. but you can’t bail out now. They can always pull the cord after next year

They're going to prioritize Brogdon over both imo, over Mirotic obviously, no brainer there.

I like McNamara’s idea of offering them Moore and a 2nd in a S&T

Gives them something they can use and a future pick.

Here we go with the wanting to overpay and/or overtrade for young veterans again. 6 years of Dell has really rubbed off on a lot of you and you don’t even realize it lol. I even saw crewz recommending 4 yrs 84m and his defense was well Zion will be on a rookie deal so paying 32m a year for both of them is a good deal when you think about it like that. Yada yada yada, this is the exact same mistake that that we did when building around AD. Did y’all even watch the series? Brogdon was complete arse in every 4th quarter. He piled up empty stats early in the game and then was bricking the hell out of shots and/or dribbling off of his feet when the game actually mattered. He’s worth about 12m-15m a year max. Anything over that for me is a hard pass.
