It’s the truth. No one around here has the balls to admit it. I’m glad the Pels got Zion. Kid is a generational talent. The picks from the Lakers will be atrocious if they get kawhi. If they get kawhi, how many people who were screaming Griffin for GM Of the year are gonna still be screaming it after they hoist the trophy?

[Pingalore]The conversation with my @nba sources continues to be @kawhileonard “heavily leaning towards joining the @clippers. From conversations as of this evening I am still being told he is not interested in joining the @KingJames and @Lakers. Never has been in his sights.
In case y’all want something spicy. This guy is apparently a Los Angeles sports reporter. Apparently won some SoCal journalist of the year reward if that matters. Award was given to him in 2019 so he’s got a reputation

Closer than I thought but Kawhi joining up with them just didn’t make much sense to me. Why let Bron ride your coattails to further his own legacy ?

Interesting late night bomb.. just seems like too much made up smoke coming from the Lakers. Clippers and Toronto would’ve made moves by this point if they felt like they were out, the Lakers have no other choice but to wait and hope for Kawhi

I look at this whole mess as Schrodinger’s Kawhi.
He is simultaneously on all three teams and on none of them until he opens his damn mouth.
He needs to make a decision, if only to let the narrative of the season get set.

Beverly was also on SVP saying he’s been hearing it’s clippers since earlier today or yesterday. Could have changed since tonight tho

Clippers does sound perfect and reasonable. Gets to play with a good squad, be the leader of the team, not really about all that drama that will occurred if he goes there, close to home, and definitely won’t get hated and ruin his legacy.

Plus they have the assets and young players currently to set up kawhi for long term success there

And they were literally scouting him earlier in the season

We've been hearing how the NBA would be dead due to superteams every year going on 10 years now. It's wayyyy bigger and wayyyy more popular than it was then, and it will keep going.
Let’s not twist my words here, I’m not saying that barring competitively balancing changes the league won’t survive, it will. I just think there is an upper bound to a sport that is driven almost entirely around following a small number of superstars bully their way to mega teams and watching them dominate the league for 3-5 years as your well run local team, like clockwork, keeps falling out of the playoffs.
What makes sense for a league trying to push from niche to first is not the same as what implants it on top or near it on a national and international scale imo.
To me there is a reason most fans have grown more enamored with free agency and the draft more than the regular season, and even, increasingly, the playoffs. It’s the only time committed fans of non-super teams or fans that aren’t just following their favorite personality actually have hope and a sense of potential in this sport.
I mean ask yourself, how many new season ticket holders and sudden Pelicans fans would remain if in 5 seasons the Pels simply are fodder for a Super Lakers team? First led by Lebron, than the next rotation star to jump in with AD and Kawhi? Than Zion, despite the Pels doing everything right they possibly could, see him sign with Klutch and demand out two years before his contract is up? Where to? A glamour market super team.

I'm thinking the longer Kawhi takes to decide where he wants to play, the more likely that he will choose Toronto
I could be wrong, but something has to be going on in Kawhi's head for him to take this long to decide.
Otherwise, it shouldn't be this hard for him. He's from the area and wants to play for the hometown team. He wanted to be traded there when he was with San Antonio. Told Toronto that he would only be there for a year. LeBron and AD are pretty good players. Why the hesitation?

Kawhi is a strange guy and has never been a UFA before.
The way players in the past did it was they took meetings and took their time to decide. They didn’t have to decide for days.
Kawhi probably doesn’t care or may not even be aware of how things are done now. He wants the meetings and the whole shebang, and when he’s done it’ll be Apple Time on his terms.

So, Riley Drexel isn't just the nephew of Jeanie Buss. Jeanie is the "governor" of the owners, but all six of Jerry Buss's children have an 11% ownership stake, including Janie Buss Drexel, Riley's mom. Janie was the staunch supporter of Jeanie in the ownership crisis when Jeanie took control from her older brother Jim a few years ago. Janie Buss Drexel still works in the Lakers organization as the Director of Special Events. Even though Riley works as a flight attendant, it appears that he sometimes helps his mom with organizing special events, including last fall's Pride Night (Riley is gay).
What got him doxxed on Reddit was that he'd made the exact same posts on Reddit as he had to his verified twitter account (also deleted). Also, he'd angered people on Reddit by being an outspoken Trump supporter, so he'd made enemies on Reddit.
[Edit: this is the guy who started "Kawhi is a Laker" last night.]
