Boston is over the cap and has to match salaries in a trade, so even if we send them Hill, we still dont open up much cap room..

That is one advantage with dealing with LA is they can absorb AD and Hill into cap room, so if we really wanted we could do a straight up AD and Hill for draft picks swap with them

Talk is he's a ball hog. Pels will be at its best with ball movement. Also, will he fit within "the new Pels Culture"? If so, It's worth consideration.

Right. It would be better to hold onto Solo until the trade deadline, and attach a pick or two with him for another expiring contract.....but this time it would be for someone who can actually play. Although, if we are nowhere near a playoff team at the deadline then it might just be best to let him expire.

If I can move Hill in the AD trade, I do it if it clears cap space for us (really the only reason I would love to send AD to LA)

Then I go after Russel or Brogdon in free agency, and still have alot of money left over to take on another contract for future pick(s)..

Washington would probably be willing to throw a 2020 top 5 protected 1st to dump Mahinmi, so a realistic deal with LA looking at the big picture could end up looking like:

LAL: AD, Hill
CHI: Ball
WAS:2025 2nd top 55 protected (because we have to send something)
NOP: Brogdon/Russel, Ingram, Hart, Carter, Mahinmi, #4, 2020 Wash 1st, 21 LA 1st

Quite the haul if you take a broader perspective relative to looking at JUST what we recieve from LA

Brogdon would definitely be our starter in that situation

I think everyone is thinking too big. Obviously it will depend on who we trade for, but I think we want flexibility in 3-4 years, so I think we will make Darren Collison type signings, not D’Lo type signings.

Why go for flexibility in 3-4 years when you can make moves now and have a DAMN good team while still having alot of flexibility?

Signing Russel does not hinder any kind of flexibility for the future, next year we would have the cap space to offer a max deal to someone (assuming we let Ingram walk)

Having a playoff team and plenty of cap space is what every GM dreams of

I don’t think Carter or Mark is on the table for a Chicago offer. Lavine has been mentioned, but i don’t think they send young assets for taking on Ball. Plus I think they would want the #4 and a pick swap so they could go after a shooting guard replacement like Culver. So we would end getting #7 instead.

I could see them swapping Carter for Ball

They desperately need a PG, and having a core of Ball, Lavine, Otto, Markannen is a pretty much playoff team in the east if healthy..

They wont get a guard as good as Lonzo in the draft

I sound like a broken record, but my #1 target in the trade market is Aaron Gordon. For free agency my prime gets are Satoransky, Sefolosha, and KOQ.

AD for Tatum/Smart + 2 picks

Sign Brogdon, Pat Bev, Dedmon or Kyle o Quinn, Dudley

Could look to package Moore for a center.

Brogdon/Jrue/Tatum/Zion/Dedmon

Pat Bev/Smart/Kenrich/Wood/Jah

Frank, draft picks, Dudley.

What is so hard to comprehend that if we trade with Boston they have to March salaries, and we would not open up any cap space?

To open any cap space trading with Boston, we would have to use one of those assets to move Hill, or move Moore without taking anything back..

Otherwise we will be going into free agency with about 13-15 million in cap

What’s so hard about understanding that we could create cap space?

That's kind of my ideal, semi-realistic offseason. I'm a big Beverley fan, but if that's how it goes, I'd avoid him and just hold on to Moore. I know he goes largely unspoken of here, but E'Twuan is still a VERY efficient 3pt shooter, so I think he'd be more helpful than Beverley in the event that Brogdon/Tatum got hurt. If we head into 20/21 without cap space, I think Moore will be a good option as a reasonably priced #4 guard.

But Tatum, Smart, Mempis pick, Brogdon, and Dedmon/Oquinn would be awesome. A future asset, good young players, and a competent big. I wouldn't invest too much in another big in that situation because I could easily see Tatum/Zion as our frontcourt to finish most games.

Why trade AD for a lesser package, and still have to send out assets to dump Hill to create space??

Tatum/Smart/Filler 2 picks is less than what LA is offering

hold on to Moore

No way I part with Moore unless we trade for or sign at least two career 39%+ 3P shooters.

Because if Zion is going to be an all star/all pro type player, it will take him three to four years to get to that level. We need to have an idea of the type of team we want to be, the type of coach we need and the type of players/draft picks we need, and build that team.

We tried the win-now mentality before. It doesn’t work.
