No discussion of Barkley calling the Pelicans "the Titantic" last night?

Thought for sure everyone would've jumped on that in here. Ernie mentioned the Jason Kidd firing and the guys said he'd be a fit w Magic. Ernie then asked what they thought about Mosley coming to Pelicans and Barkley laughed and said "...all aboard the sinking ship."

That paired with the players' opinion poll mentioned in the below thread does not paint a good picture for there being a turn around coming. No confidence from anyone! Saints only city right around the corner

I'll discuss it...Charles Barkley is completely right on his assessment of the Pelicans' organization.

People said the same thing about the Saints until they found their star + coach combo.

I dont think it matters much who the coach is if Zion is your star. If Fears emerges as your Kyrie-type player, then yes Mosely has to go immediately to the hot seat...

The Pelicans will always get shite on - by players or by people connected to players - because of the reputation they've earned for being Donald Sterling cheap. Changing that perception is like turning the Titanic UNLESS you suddenly start winning

"because of the reputation they've earned for being Donald Sterling cheap"

In a way, it's worse because the Pelicans really aren't that cheap. Pels had the league's 12th highest payroll last year and still only won 25 games with a mostly healthy Zion. That's not cheap so much as incompetent. The saving grace of all this is that everything changes if you get a coach and star player who click and start to win.

Aside from the obvious stuff we can all see, it’s pretty clear from listening to the national media guys that the Pelicans have an awful reputation

I doubt it gets better without an ownership change

Salary is one thing .. but the Pels are regarded as a shite destination by players because of everything outside of salary.

No players have ever left NOLA and complained about their paycheck. They always bring up the facilities, the travel arrangements, the food, the doctors, the amenities, etc.

Its been a running joke since the Bensons bought the team. Just look at last season where it took fans pressuring the team for them to add giveaway nights to the schedule

Fair enough but I also see it as WAY down the list of concerns. Sure, do some bobblehead giveaways, etc., but I don’t remember any of that mattering much when the Pels were crowding 50 wins. Coaches and players matter most.

80% of his list is bullshite. Pels have a stain on their reputation with some medical situations and doctors with a few players. That's about the biggest gripe. We have no bad facility issue whatsoever.

As long as Dumars is involved with this organization and Gayle is the owner, it's going to remain a certified, unquestionable loser. I've been saying to trade Zion since he wigged out and left the COVID bubble in Orlando six years ago. Now it's too late to do shite with him and we suck. And we're going to suck for a long, long time. Mosely isn't going to turn it around either.

We're handicapped until Joe's gone and Gayle sells. Tell me I'm wrong.

I was referring to the OP mentioning the poll of players saying we were one of the places they wouldn't want to go...

Go watch interviews of former players. They always make fun of the amenities that the team provides way more than anything else

I couldnt care less if we have inferior massage tables. Just saying that seems to be the sentiment among players -- that we lack some of the fancy stuff that bigger market teams have

Things will not change until the "Zion Era" has concluded. A seven-year career (and counting) fraught with emptiness, despair, broken promise, and futility will be the legacy of our 'superstar' man-child. It speaks volumes that a player is more famous for the headlines he makes off the court than the ones he makes on the court.

Williamson's career has been dwarfed by those of the likes of Anthony Edwards, Cade Cunningham, Paolo Banchero, Wemby and, even Cooper Flagg (already), but our guy was supposed to be the 'generational talent'.

Wasn't it Einstein who said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”? On to season eight of the "ZION ERROR"?

DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!!
