ESPN Sources: Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic voted the NBA’s MVP for a second consecutive season

I know a lot of people had their favorites, but to me all 3 of Jokic/Embid/Giannis had legit claims this season.

All things considered, I don't have a problem with it.

Tbh they need to change the way MVP is voted.

aka make it more than a regular-season award since the NBA playoffs are damn near a whole different animal.

It's a regular season award and he's a deserving winner. Better stats than last year and he did it without Murray and MPJ. But the playoffs make it look like it was the wrong choice.

I would have preferred Giannis to get it.

Right, the MVP voting deadline is the last day of the regular season. They just wait to announce who won.

yeah but if the Mavs lose this series and Luka averages 35PPG he's playoff MVP.

Yea the Finals MVP is just the MVP of the finals--not the entire playoffs

The voting for regular MVP should count up until the first round. You get to see how the best players play against the better teams night in and night out and really focus on them.

It's impossible to watch all 82 games of every player in the regular season.

They should keep the MVP award the way it is.

He carried his team to the playoffs without its 2nd best and 3rd best player all year.

Pels fans know as well as anyone that the games at the beginning of the season count. Changing the MVP voting to discount the first part of the season would be like throwing out 1st quarter points when deciding the scoring champ.

Only 3 of the last 19 MVPs have won a championship in the same season.

What they should do is have an all playoff team.

Can we all agree that Joel Embiid deserved it. First big to win the scoring title since SHAQ. We all know how dominant SHAQ was and Embiid is a better scoring player and in my opinion deserves it.

Not when Jokic was clearly better.

Embiid deserved it dealing with the Ben Simmons garbage and his replacement, James Harden sucking.

The award is “Most Valuable”, not “Coolest Stats” or”Most Triple Doubles” Award.

And we just witnessed firsthand how valuable Embiid is when he missed 2 games of the series with Miami.

No Embiid and Philly can’t stay within 20 points of Miami. Add 50% Embiid with 3 different series injuries and lacking conditioning and Miami looks like a heavy underdog now.
