Collins was the one getting those rebounds, he was not Val's man to box out.

One issue putting Herb on Trae, alot of times Graham ended up on Collins, which is just to big a mismatch for him.

JV had some big mistakes but also got a ton of fts and fouls on their bigs to get us a lead going into the break.

This game is squarely on NAW going AWOL in the 4th with about 7 minutes to go. He's shown that he can distribute, and flat out refused to get BI the ball. Rough game for him.

Yeah that was not on JV.

JV can not literally box out the entire paint.

The switch fricked that play and left a wide open lane for Collins to swoop in and get that OREB.

It's really simple. We simply lost because we gave them a ton of 2nd chance opportunities. 19 offensive rebounds will put you into the ground on most nights.

The reason that we had a chance to win tonight was that we cut the turnovers back to only 10. Limiting TOs kept us competitive.

That was an isolated play tho. He was pretty bad at boxing out all night. We can call it dead legs, but he just looked overpowered most of the night.

We also did a terrible job of getting Brandon the ball on the elbow in crunch time. He just closed out a game two nights ago from that 20 ft spot and we did nothing to get him the ball in that area.

This is just a badly constructed team. Thanks Griff. We have some pieces, but NO bench. We have a SG who can't shoot. And BI just ain't a closer, but is still a good player. And JV was the least of our problems. He battled all by himself down low and got hacked all night with no calls. Of course the refs sucked. Graham was great,BI was real good except late. Jones will be a player. NAW is terrible as is Marshall. Will be a tough year.

Perfect assessment of the game

Yeah, JV with 16, 15, 3 with the highest +/- on the team tonight was not the reason we lost.

Like I said, we just went toe to toe with a healthier version of the team that went to the Eastern conference finals, and we were missing our best player.

Tonight should overall be a positive one.

We demonstrated that we aren't the bottom feeders we played like the first 3 games and can actually hang with pretty much anyone, and every game we've improved in areas.

This is a positive believe it or not.

Let's not lose sight that any competent ref calls a foul on Capela against Graham and he is shooting FT's for the lead.
Plenty of shitty calls against us tonight.

Yeah I hate it when my center doesn't box out two to three guys off a miss.

You need to realize that people other than centers need to box out man.

I mean, if NAW doesn’t jack up 5 straight brick (three immediately after BI checked into the game to close it out) we win this game. 2nd chance points or not.

It’s tough to blame a loss on a player, but he wasn’t thinking about winning the game at any cost, he wanted to be the hero.

I like NAW a lot and he has a lot of potential; but it’s been three years and he still plays like it’s his first game in the league every single game. I don’t know that he’ll ever figure it out and settle into a positive role.

We’re playing better on ball defense, and the pieces are coming together better on offense. It would just be cool if NAW didn’t suck and if Zion wasn’t fat

Trying to spin it the other way to be positive. Bench is stretched thin without Zion and Hart, NAW and BI combined for 11/35, we gave up 21 offensive rebounds, and despite all that we lost by 3 and probably feel sort of robbed by the missed foul call inside 15 seconds.

Collins was the only Hawks starter with a positive +/-

There's been improvement in a short period and that's encouraging. We obviously won't go top 4 in West but we should be a lot more fun getting Zion and Hart back and that will help negative contributors lose minutes.

Yeah, I tried to make it before the final minute so the casuals wouldn't overrun the board with melts.

You want to talk about something worth panicking over?

The Lakers are down 7 to OKC.

We just went toe to toe down our best player against and Eastern Conference Finals team.

Y'all can melt, but as someone that saw us only winning 2-3 games before OKC in mid November, this team has upped that notably.

Dude...did you see the boards Graham were getting? How he attacked the ball? He's not even the most athletic guy but positioned himself perfectly to rebound several times. When you rewatch the game, watch how many of JV's boards came in the 4th with NO ONE else around him. I'm just saying he might have been tired and overmatched. The game was super high paced. He mightve been pulled in a playoff series.

And we did it when Ingram had an off night. As I said earlier, if he goes 8-21 from the field and only shoots one FT, then we just aren't going to win many of those games until Zion comes back.

The biggest reason to be excited is that our rooks continue to look awesome.

I am still in disbelief that Herb Jones goes from guarding KAT to guarding Trae, and he looks great doing both. He also hit a 3, and that Euro was filthy. I think we got a good one.

And Trey looked much more comfortable tonight than he has in any game so far this season---not timid at all.
