He turned the Room Level Exception into Cole.

Of the other guys you listed, Cunningham is the only one that had an immediate impact and he had highly unusual circumstances. Everyone else that he got for a minimum deal, true trash, took at least half a season and an offseason of assimilation to become useful pieces. I'm a Demps fan, I just don't think he can turn minimum contracts into immediate rotation players. All the minimum guys have taken time to work their way into the rotation. Now maybe Gentry will be quicker to trust guys than Monty was, I just think if you go this route, you better be ok with being 7 deep this season.

Right. And he would have the Room Exception again. He would also have minimum contracts (Morrow, Ajinca, Babbitt). And like you said, Cunningham. Those are 5 guys that can play in the NBA that Dell got for nothing in the past 2 years. An average of 2.5 per year. I will round down and take 2. Would be a nice 9 man rotation.

I trust him to get depth. Not specifically talking about Jordan, but my point is that I would sacrifice depth for a stud because I think Dell can manufacture depth. I don't think he can manufacture a star.

I don't know if I should laugh or buy a plane ticket, track you down and remove your testicles with a rusty knife for that comment.

I got an idea how about we the fans just sit back and let the new staff run the team.

I'm willing to sacrifice for a stud player, but DJ isn't that guy.

Demps is fantastic at getting 7th, 8th, 9th men out of thin air.

He got a lot of praise for it because of the low expectations he set for himself by having absolutely horrible 7th, 8th, and 9th men. Overall, he has performed below average in getting reliable bench players.

Yeah. Most GMs (what up, Glenn) can find options in those slots. It is not terribly difficult. Demps has been good with it, but not on some level that gives the Pels a big advantage. No one is looking at Norris Cole and saying "What a find!" It's, "Holy shite, Norris Cole is that much better than Austin Rivers and that makes a huge difference."

I do think injuries to starters and antiquated substitution patterns have made the bench look awful. Just avoiding the 5 man bench units will help things a great deal.

It's all about oppurtunity

DC wasn't available to start the year and guys like richard jefferson/alan anderson turned him down. He had to settle for salmons and flipped him for cole.

QPon is classic trading a dime for a quarter(or 50 cents possibly in qpons place.)

I don't see how he's preformed below average

That's part of it as well

Monty did not do a good job or rotating the 3 guards early on. Had one of them stayed on the floor it might not have been as bad sometimes.

I tend to agree with this. Marc Gasol, Durant (obviously), Kawhi, etc - guys like that I sacrifice depth for. Jordan wouldn't be in that group for me.

Asik sucks and I don't want him.
if we are going to pay 20 million for someone, he better be a sg or sf.

Have any of you noticed how much bogut and mozgov have been playing, especially in the 4th?
High dollar centers are a waste of money, outside Marc gasol.
