That's fricking stupid, we need to show AD every year for the rest of this contract that we are trying to compete for titles.

We need to improve every year.

According to RPM Carroll has the 9th best record amongst SF.
Ariza is 10th.

I'd do Hill/Ajinca and top 5 protected for Carroll.

He is getting 16M next season.
I can't see GS trading him away.

Been talking about Carroll for a while now. Low usage player, career 36% from the 3pt line, solid defense throughout his career, great teammate, and high IQ. Would be an awesome fit for this team and could even play the 4 if we wanted to go small. Dude is 6'8" and brought down 6 Rebs per game this year

and you better believe they'd do that in a heartbeat esp since he's an expiring.

But also how can you look at those advanced stats and not dream of Otto Porter?

Assets available for trade: Hill, Moore, Ajinca, picks

SF we will not be able to obtain(sign/trade):
Paul George
Lebron James
Joe Ingles
Kyle Anderson
Kawhi Leonard
OG Anonuby
Jason Tatum
Brandon Ingram

SF who are obtainable (sign/trade):

Demarre Carroll
Trevor Ariza
Thabo Sefolosha
PJ Tucker
Jeff Green

SF who could potentially become available (sign/trade):
Robert Convington (76ers would need to aquire James, Kawhi or George)
Otto Porter (Wizards would have to blow it up)
Will Barton (has to be a sign and trade)

My guess at plan of action:
1. Paul George (They will probably try to convince him that the Pelicans become an immediate title contender if he joins.) He turns us down for more money.
2. Otto Porter (They put out feelers with Washington, they probably want Mirotic or Cousins plus fillers and picks) We decline.
3. Robert Covington (I think Philly will land a premier SF and immediately shop Covington for the minimum of a 1st, a usable piece, plus fillers) This is the move i project the Pelicans make.
4. Demarre Carroll (I believe the Pelicans land Covington, but if they don't Carroll is probably next on the list and the Pelicans land him for Hill and a 1st).

Projection: Pelicans trade Hill, Ajinca, Diallo, our 2018 2nd, and a 2020 1st for Robert Covington.

Lineup:
Rondo (re-signs on a 2 year deal)
Holiday
Covington
Davis
Cousins (re-signs on a 2+1 year deal)

I can’t imagine a team in the West trading and making us better at this point. This is even with the chance of slightly bettering their own situation. One of the bottom teams in the conference would, but they have nothing we want.

I don’t see a Diallo and a first three drafts from now being competitive for Covington. Definitely he we are attaching Hill.

I think they should be able to get Carroll with a first because he is expiring. I think Carroll would easily accept a role and play small ball 4. I would assume the Pels would also be able to resign him the next year on a cheaper deal to start.

Philly is not trading Roco even if they acquire an elite wing. Roco will just go to the bench unit. He’s a super versatile and effective 3&D wing on a cheap long term contract. They don’t need the capspace and he would be more valuable to them than a pick as contenders in the East.

The 76'ers have benched Covington. He would be a great fit.

The best case scenario for the Pels is a healthy Hill living up to Demps' expectations for him like Jrue did. Unless the Pels can get in on a deal for one of the star level players, I don't think Demps would have much interest in trading Hill. He gave him that money for a reason. I'm not saying it was a good reason, but he saw something he believes in, because there were a lot of comparable players he could have targeted for less money.

It's probably for the best to wait to until the deadline anyway. Ajinca's value goes up from our perspective while the value of expiring targets like Carrol and Dinwiddie goes down. Make a trade this summer of Ajinca/Hill/1st you might only get Carroll back. Wait until the deadline and you can probably get Dinwiddie too.

What's going on with Rodney Hood?

quote:

Twelve different Cleveland Cavaliers players saw action in a series-clinching 128-93 Game 4 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Monday in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Rodney Hood was not one of those 12 players, and that was reportedly by choice.

According to The Athletic's Jason Lloyd, Cleveland coach Tyronn Lue attempted to substitute Hood in for LeBron James with a 30-point lead with seven minutes, 38 seconds to play. However, the fourth-year player refused to enter the game, angering his teammates.

"This is the playoffs," an anonymous Cleveland player said. "We're trying to win a championship. This isn't about you."

Hood was the only guy not to play in Game 4.

...Hood was acquired to be a solid three-and-D player, but he hasn't panned out.

Per Lloyd, Cavs general manager Koby Altman intends to meet with Hood to give him a chance to explain himself. Depending on the answer, a suspension could be in play.

LINK

Will Hood be getting any offers bigger than the MLE? If not I wonder how the Cavs would feel about a S&T of Hood for Moore, assuming LeBron stays of course?
